Spoiler You're right about the later supes being raised in a family. I completely forgot that Starlight was raised in a family environment. I agree with you and think that Vought was doing its best to keep Homelander under control since he's their most valuable asset and also the most powerful. I think Vought's plan for Homelanders kid is to eventually be the one who can take him down. I say this because of what the doctor said and how Stillwater says shes actually scared of Homelander. They just needed to control Homelander long enough until the kid is old/strong enough to beat him and take his place. I'm also excited to see how Mr.Edgar plays a role in Homelander's life and how he views him. There were few times where Stillwater named dropped his name to Homelander to make him do something and Homelander didn't question it. You also don't cast Giancarlo Esposito(Gus from breaking bad) without having him be a major character. The guy is too good of an actor to not give him a significant role.
Spoiler oh man, great point on it being a way to take out Homelander that definitely makes sense, especially with Stillwater's concern over Homelander. And man I was so excited to see Giancarlo Esposito, his BrBa character was amazing, I mean he better have a significant role for sure. The show honestly surprised me and I'm really looking forward to next season. I went in kind of blind on it and not knowing what to expect, and also, my wife and I did the same thing where we binged it pretty quickly. Really impressed with the show.
Finally watched The Boys, Butcher and Homelander are the standout characters and the actors are great, just wish the made homelander a little more evil like the comic, here he just seems detached. I don't remember A Train having such a huge part in the comics and I don't think he adds anything great to the plot. Don't think they are using The Woman to her full value as a character but that will probably pick up as the series progresses. My biggest issue is with Wee Hughie, the actor is fine but having his father be the actor that the character is based on in the comic is distracting and makes me realize how a much he would be better in that part, I know he is too old for the part currently. Don't know if I like the different twist ending, there is no logical reason Butcher would be alive much longer but I am willing to see how it goes. Spoiler As for the question of Stillwells baby I think they were keeping the menace of what Homelander did to a baby in the comic.
Yeah it’s all weird if you’ve read the comic but the spirit of the comic is there so far. Hughie threw me off too.
Just finished S1. Excellent show. Each episode kept getting better and better...with the final two episodes being fantastic (as related to the storyline). I really enjoy the acting performances from Urban and Starr...but I've found myself liking the Hughie character quite a bit. I think Jack Quaid has helped create a sympathetic yet wildcard-ish character pretty well. I find myself pulling for Hughie and Starlight constantly...I guess because to me, they're such a beacon of light in an otherwise very dark story (which is sorta ironic because Hughie has played such a big part in the darkness of the storyline). I did not read any of the comics, so I'm taking everything in brand new and it's been a fun ride so far. Will probably start watching S2 tomorrow. Also...I NEVER need to see Deep's gills ever again! Making me miss Kevin Costner's gills in Waterworld.
I have some disturbing news for you... For all those loving Homelander. If you haven't watched the four seasons of Banshee I highly recommend you do.
