Seriously who cares. Why do you care what other people are doing or how much you make or they make.

If you're under 50, you can always make another push for your vision of bigger success.

Energy and motivation seems to decline w/ age, but that's all mental.

I don't measure my success based on other people. I measure my success on the goals that I've set for myself and have or haven't accomplished.

We all have areas where we have or haven't been successful. I've known very rich men who were failures in marriage and parenthood. I've known men who were great husbands and fathers but were never wealthy.

When I first got on MySpace back when that was a thing I looked up a kid that bullied me and found out he had passed away. After doing more searching found out he had died from a drug overdose.

I wasn't close with anyone in high school and not connected with any classmates on social media so never really thought about them outside of that one kid.

I thought about this the other day. I didn't keep in touch with many people from high school. I remember probably less than 10% of my graduating class. I was even more of a loner in undergrad. I made many good friends and met my wife in law school.

I have a few friends who I keep in touch with that went to school w/ me - and they're the only friends I see a few times a year from grade school- due to us knowing each other since 3rd/4th grade. On FB I did add a lot of hs friends/they added me but I really don't compare myself/judge others - there's no point, we're not in HS.

I mean Let's say a person is the richest/poorest at a reunion - most people won't know them except hs/some fb posts, so by prejudging a person you have no clue if they had a tough life - making their plans change - ie taking care of sick family/having a terminal illness that's really made it hard etc. Or just because they don't share that they're a CEO at a large company and a big deal w/ the best life they just don't bother sharing.

No matter what people want to believe not everyone was dealt with the same deck and some might have had bad luck after bad luck and are just now turning around or need encouragement.

If I did go to one, I'd use the time to think about the fun stuff/laugh w/ others, encourage people if they've had it hard, or find out how they're doing /hobbies etc. Hell you might meet classmates you could help or that can help you with life (last I checked we're all in this "life thing" together). Going in smug/snobby lowers yourself and people really won't be impressed.

I personally like seeing people who were jerks grow up and do good finally or people that went above and beyond. It does suck to know some could have done a lot more but if they're happy that's cool too (and again how would I even know if they didn't do all their goals but just chose not to share etc etc). I mean for all I know they retired early and set, but maybe they didn't want to brag about it.

Tl;Dr life's too short to worry about trivial things and if going to showoff/be smug is the agenda, why bother?
