And the buzzer has passed. Remember, news can and will still trickle in over the next 15 or so minutes. Expecting news about Lynn and Minor (eta: meant to type Gallo, I know Minor was traded to OAK, got names mixed up in a hurry), and then maybe 2 or 3 smaller prizes as well.
"Reds get Brian Goodwin from Angels." "Cameron Maybin has been traded from Detroit to the Chicago Cubs"
The Rangers were smart to hold onto Lynn. They can move him this off season. It has been a strong buyers market.
I would only add that what the Astros have on their roster is arguably better than most of the players moved, at a lower cost. Many of the players moved are rentals, and not especially doing well.
I'm glad we stayed put. There's an outside chance, which has increased due to results so far this year, that our pitching depth in the minor leagues is real. Guys like Paredes, Scrubb, Taylor, Javier, Bielak - if they pan out I'd much rather have them for the duration of their team control rather than trade them now for a veteran who will only be marginally better in 2020 anyway. One thing I would have liked is to trade for a catcher. We are putting a lot of miles on Maldonado and if he breaks down our catching situation looks pretty ugly.
