Leak from Kawhi's camp to put pressure on Magic and Pelinka while using Lowe as a shill.

the one speckle of a chance we might have is that pops is quite fond of harden, and likely hasn't been too pleased with the way the league has treated him regarding MVP trophies and playoff officiating. so from this standpoint, he could conceivably send out one final F U to the league brass before he retires

Congrats to future Hall of Famers Clint Capela and Eric Gordon.

Yea I thought so too--he thinks highly of both Harden and Paul and this would be a great last "screw you" move to Lakers (and maybe even GS). Of course, he would have to be very vindictive to turn down packages from other teams that are more attractive to send us Kawhi.

They're not trading him to a team in the same division. Fuggedaboutit.

he'd probably have to flip gordon into a 1st round pick. but right now capela is right there with ingram or saric or jaylen brown in terms of value imo

Not convinced this would be an overall upgrade to the roster. Capela's defense, rebounding, and pick & roll + Gordon's scoring ability together have to be pretty similar to what Kawhi brings, and it's not like we don't need to fill those minutes, especially with CP3's injury history. On top of that, Capela is literally the only good big man on the roster.

So unless Morey had some other moves up his sleeve, I don't know.

Now, if it was Anderson + Capela + picks, that makes a little more sense. Play a lot of small ball and win games.

So basically he is just going to the trade machine with all the other teams to keep this interesting.

I think the last time Rockets traded with the Spurs was to get Scola... they were over a barrel with him, too. I'd be completely shocked if this happened.

Divisions aren't going to matter if they reshape playoff seeding. If Pop is 99% sure KL wants to be in LA, and Pop has a chance to damage the Rockets future ... he'd make the deal. Morey is ok with it because hes a gambler and a 1 yr rental that could challenge the Warriors could convince KL to stay longer. Prob not ... seems like the dude really wants to be in LA.
