Carlos came up so young, and has dealt with numerous injuries over the years. But, at 26, he is without a doubt living up to the otherworldly forecasts/hype. His talent has always been beyond reproach, but now, Correa is putting it all together...and its indeed something to behold. Sweet picking followed by the howitzer, hitting 475- 500 ft home runs....more patience at the plate & making pitchers pay almost every time for their mistakes..He is locked in right now like nobody's business. (Talk about a clutch hitter) We're watching an All Time great start to dominate...on the biggest stage of all. The stuff of legend.
Let him play a full season 1st... But I'm with ya! It's like he needed the ridicule and disrespect to play the part!
I agree that he needs to find a way to stay healthy ( hopefully playing 145-150 gms/yr), but it's all coming together now. While CC's career #s might not be eye popping, he is without a doubt one of the most talented players to EVER play the game.(certainly at his position)
He did lead us to the playoffs as a rookie. I say it never left. He was an immortal from day one. Pure baseball player and it oozes out. You can literally touch and feel it.
He's always had it. Agreed. But, he's developed, grown into a man..is stronger...the complete package... IF Correa can stay healthy, he's going to put up insane numbers. In the meantime, here he is healthy & in his prime..oo la la.. The shortened season really helped him.
More than his bat, he started to lead being vocal and actually putting his foot down. His bat followed.
He sure shows up in the playoffs. I hope we could keep Springer too. Springer, Bregman, Correa, Altuve.
Correa has been an MVP level player basically since he got to the show. Nothing about his healthy performance level has ever been in question. But he still has yet to put it together for a full season, usually due to injury. He's been killing it in October, but he had a poor offensive showing in the regular season, so 2020 is yet another incomplete season for him.
i think you kind of have to throw out the 2020 regular season for everyone. For the players that did well, you dont know if they would have kept it up or just had a hot start. For the players that struggled, who knows if they would have turned it around.
True, this season is an anomaly. So you likely have to fall back on track record, which for him doesn't help change the unreliable label.
He's been nails this season. Long term obviously remains to be seen. But the post-season has been a different ballgame for Correa.
He's always been that player when healthy but then the unfortunate freaky,in more ways than one, injuries happen. It takes him time to get back to where he was. As soon as the post season begins, he's back to doing what he does best.
There was an article on The Athletic yesterday and part of it was talking about what 5 teammates are bound together more than the Astros 5(Gurriel was the 5th player) and answer was no one. Those 5 have played 50 post season games together. They're 3rd all time currently and after the ALCS, if all 5 stay healthy and play, they would jump to 1st. Currently the leaders are... 53 games: Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, Paul O’Neill 53 games: Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, Chuck Knoblauch They just past the Phillies 5 of Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Shane Victorino and Carlos Ruiz — who played 46 postseason games. Hopefully these 5 remain teammates years to come and keep adding to their post season games played together.
Correa has always had the talent but has been held back by injuries and like a lot of young players lack of focus. He's healthy now but more importantly he's focused. He's taken to heart what I've said embracing being the bad guy. I think he's driven now by sticking it to the haters and that's made him locked in.
He’s been that guy in the playoffs basically since 2015. Quite simply the man puts up in postseason baseball so this isn’t anything new. He has yet to meet regular season hall of fame expectations but I think that’s more of an injury thing than anything else. All in all with the postseason production he’s been more than anyone could reasonably have expected when we drafted him.
For his career, Correa has 107 homeruns in 2269 ABs, for 1 homerun for about every 21 at bats. In the postseason, however, he's hit 15 homeruns in 214 ABs, about 1 homerun for every 14 at bats. Other shortstops' numbers in the postseason: A-Rod: 278 AB / 13 ~21 AB/HR Jeter: 650/20 ~32 AB/HR Corey Seager: 136/4 ~34 AB/HR Francisco Lindor: 95/5 19 AB/HR Just for giggles: Pujols: 279 / 19 ~ 14 AB/HR
Ever since that big error in Game 4 of the 2015 ALDS against Kansas City, six outs away from the LCS, he's been a force ever since despite injuries here and there.
