Giles was awful in the playoffs...that is true. This year he may be one of the more coveted trade deadline pieces.
Giles went on a Lidge speedrun in his time here. Quickly zoomed to the giving up bombs and squatting on the mound stage.
I definitely agree with the conclusion of this post, however Giles actually pitched twice in the WS... and gave up 5 runs in 1.2 innings.
Texans training camp starts today (Thursday, July 25), people. I bet the CF Texans forum has a thread or two wrt OBie's coaching ability (or lack thereof) that are far more entertaining than these boring, boring Astros threads.
I have never thought that he was an elite closer. Seems like he relies on a lot of contact outs which isn't good.
Like I expressed in game thread, he no longer should automatically get the 9th, especially if the game is close. Incredibly stupid if he hit that guy to prove a point in a game that was still close as well.
Nice bump. My take is we give it to Pressly and demote Osuna to see if he can figure it out at AAA (unlikely to make a difference in my opinion).
Time to make the change. Waiting any longer will start to look like Texans/Bill O’Brien-like stubbornness, which is uncharacteristic for the Astros.
The person behind the plate that told him to throw the same off speed pitch 4 times in a row? Even Kalas remarked after the 3rd time.
