CP3 is so much more than I thought he'd be. I didn't really foresee the intangibles he brings both on and off the court.

This really only matters if we're talking length of contract, rather than $ amount, right?

I agree with this. operating above the cap means anyone taking a paycut doesn't really help anything other than the luxury tax for the owner. Not sure why this would be a real thing unless Chris is thinking operating under that cap where a legit option.

CP3 being flexible has to do with S&T options and a HARD CAP scenario. If it comes to that. #NewMath

This sounds like something that CP3 wouldn't even let leak to Morey, but somehow it has leaked to Eddie Cecco. Interesting.

How or why would a Sign-and-Trade for Lebron be preferable to an Opt In-and-Trade?

It's not, but a OnT depends on LBJ's willingness to make a rather speedy decision, which by all indications he is not.

Well, here is the kicker. It EXTENDS the window for LeBron past June 29. So, LeBron can become a FA and does not have to get under the thumb of the Cavs. HE has the power then to leave (to LA) or do the Houston S&T. Just gives LeBron more leverage.

Remember, Cleveland did a S&T with LeBron to the Heat.

Opt-in trade is the preferred method if you are the Rockets, but June 29th would be the deadline for that to happen. Sign and trade allows Lebron to take his time and meet with other teams.
