https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/01/15/third-down-conversions-quarterbacks/ Luck iz more gud wen u includes forth down n runnin for converzions.......Shaub is horrible
Lance Z says it's really not possible to increase arm strength by lifting weights, etc but has this guy ever lifted a weight? Peyton, Brady, Rodgers aren't swoll but would it hurt his play to get a little ripped. Squats, lunges, anything? All of the young quarterbacks seem to be in great shape. Luck, RG 3, Wilson, Kaepernick...
you know now that you mention it in his Methodist Hospital commercial schaub is shown working out w 10 LB DUMBBELLS... there's your problem!
I wish I knew more about throwing mechanics because it's hard to believe there's an innate biological factor that limits your throwing range, independent of actual upper body strength. Is it a quick twitch muscle fiber thing?
That's certainly how he looked to me these final six weeks. So you're actively advocating for a QB that makes enough mistakes to cost him team games?........
Stop being obtuse! Of course he is not saying that. He is simply stating , it wouldn't hurt if Schaub showed some grit or moxy in the pocket*. Schaub needs to work on being tough this off season . If the same Schaub shows up next season .....goodbye. (games vs Jags/Dolphins do not count)
you cant change your game in the 9th inning. Speed, strength you can improve. Moxie you cannot. You either have IT or you dont. Mat is in his 30s already, he is what he is... A glorified back up masquerading as an starting nfl quarterback.
Hahaha I noticed this too! I'm like wth? I know you're supposed to lower weights for that exercise but come on!
I'm a pretty stern Schaub supporter, but I get what he's saying. Sometimes you want a QB who is doing anything he can to win, even when he's slinging it like Favre, instead of somebody who is playing not to mess up.
All this talk sounds like the 9ers rant about Alex Smith last season when they lost the NFC Championship Game. Schaub = Alex Smith?
except one was absolutely TERRIBLE forever when he first got playing time. The other did a solid to great job for a while. (not supporting Schaub, but I am saying his first X years starting were not even slightly comparable to Smith's)
And one can say that, one is young and their way up, while the other is older and on his way down "decline". It doesn't matter what you did yesterday. What have you done lately. As I said in the other thread, Shaub has played the same way from the jump, but it is getting noticed more because the team is better and we have higher expectations. Even when he was throwing all those yards, he still had a weak arm and is not mobile at all. The accurate thing is overblown, because any QB should be able to hit a wide open receiver, which our offense is made to get guys coming across the middle open. If you noticed most of those passes are caught because AJ or OD made shoe string or diving catches, it is never put to where the receiver can actually catch and run. If he has to throw into coverage, his accuracy drops way down. He just can't make those throws. One thing I give him though is that the guy is smart and will not make many mistakes.
you really think that cost them the game? who made the poor decision to throw across his body to a covered receiver? btw, just to be clear i don't think Peyton's the main reason they lost the game. it was Denver's defense. but that INT in OT was his fault.
well first, you have to be in these types of positions before you can make a stupid mistake that cost your team games.. just becuase schaub hasnt*, doesnt mean he wont.. *in the playoffs
Texans can escape Schaub’s contract after the season [rQUOTEr]Last September, the Texans opted after only one game to give Matt Schaub a long-term contract. He pocketed $22 million in 2012, and the question after the season will become whether the Texans want to throw good money after a suddenly bad player. Per a source with knowledge of the contract, the cap hit becomes somewhat manageable after the 2013 season. If the Texans designate Schaub as a post-June 1 cut, the cap charge in 2014 would be $3.5 million. In 2015, $7 million in dead money would apply. The Texans also would avoid paying Schaub $10 million next season by cutting him, along with another $1 million in total per-game roster bonuses. While it’s debatable whether T.J. Yates or Case Keenum would be as good as Schaub, either guy would be a better choice on a dollar-for-dollar basis. They each will make less than 10 percent next year of Schaub’s scheduled pay in 2014. One of them could be in line for a raise, as soon as next season.[/rQUOTEr]
i dont know why some texan fans are so apprehensive about moving on from matt schaub. its not like he set the bar so high. i think Keenum has much more potential than schaub ever had as a football player.
