Go become a product manager in Bay Area. You will be making 70k right out of college and 140k once you become a sr. You don't need to have comp sci background, you just need to understand how the programming works, and how to work with the engineers. Like someone had mentioned in this thread, the biggest advantage you have is that you will understand both side of the business, without the Indian accent.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. In OK, companies are recruiting MIS majors like crazy. I just took an awesome job with a prominent tech company and I have a lowly MIS degree. Just keep looking, OP. You'll find something good.
MIS 08 Grad. I work in O&G. Not doing too bad. The market is pretty good for MIS kids. I'm in Houston so our market might be better than most.
Lol a little harsh. I agree that at least for me coming out of UT, the job market for MIS majors is really good.
A 1 bedroom here that might go 1200 here might be over 3k there, but you are making way more money there. The best jobs are out there as well. Do you want be sitting around writing SQL queries so that some manager can show a fancy graph? Given the salaries are so high you will be competing with smart ass people. You will be competing with MIT, Harvard, Caltech, Stanford, cmu grads etc. Even the startups have pretty tough standards.
