I was charged with loitering at a local park

    I would be nervous about taking the community service without knowing what it would be. For example, I wouldn't want to do cleanup work at the morgue.

    As per aghast's first post, be very careful, OP, if the "community service" ends up being scheduled as "community bath clean-up" or "YMCA sauna skimming."

    Try explaining that to yourself, and your potential employers, the next ten years during job interviews, of why you have a criminal record.

    You've still never said why you were in the park, charged with loitering. Having fun with a partner? Prostitute? Cruising?

    It doesn't really matter, but if you have to spend a little money to make sure this is actually expunged, rather than taking the Clutchfans BBS' word for it, that might be a useful investment.

    Or, you know, get off your --- and hit up a legal aid clinic, if you're poor.

    This isn't a, "Where can I find the best cheesy bread?" type of thread. This is your life.

    I guess you guys are itching for an update.

    Well this morning I called and talked to an attorney (criminal defense lawyer) for some free consultaion and advice. He first said tha he didn't really think I need representation on this not-so-serious case. But he will charnge $1000 and he will take care of it for me (get the misdemeanor dismissed or reduced to an infraction).

    But then I asked them about the community service. That's when he recommended that I just do the community service and same my money.

    Now, I'm supposed to call him back tomorrow with the community service offer letter in hand so I can read it to him word by word. Nice lawyer...

    I suppose I did. You posted that you could go anywhere in England at any time, in a thread about a park that you cannot be in a 2am and I provided two examples of a park in England that you cannot be in at 2am. I suppose you may have just been trying to make a big brother joke about all the cctv cameras in England, but it falls flat when your implied premise (no parks that are closed at 2am) is patently false.
