Thursday is the "no later than" goal. Meanwhile, don't think for a minute free agency discussions aren't already happening among some.

I'll bring egg nog. RT @JerryZgoda: Just a hunch: Bet Wolves open season against Houston. You know McHale/Adelman. Don't forget Jonny Flynn.

Another interesting note from the Hunter letter: the settlement agreement "may be completed as soon as this evening..."

Discussion of B-list issues of CBA "will likely begin no later than this Friday..." & "the ratification process will take place next week."

Some Euro teams waiting on approval of labor settlement before releasing players with out-clauses to NBA; not asking them to play in games.

Well the idea is the teams with good management have awesome records and won't need the amnesty, while the teams who suck need some way to jumpstart their franchise.

Too bad the Mavs and the Rox are anomalies, the Mavs is a good team who benefit immensely from this rule due to the mgt's free spending ways, while the Rox is a horrible team but won't benefit from this at all due to good mgt.

There are whispers teams and agents will be allowed to start talking about free agents in the next day or two.

Latest I have on NBA age limit (staying at 19 for now) should be up on the interwebs shortly. Will tweet link when I have it...

    RicBucher Ric Bucher
Tweet should've read, "why it's expected" to stay at 19 for now. Don't have it on 100 percent complete authority it's 19. Looking that way.

NBA expected to soften lockout & allow players access to team facilities in next few days; still can't contact team officials, source says

NBA executives told that they can start talking to agents, and practice facilities will open to players on Friday, source tells Y! Sports.

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
To be clearer, teams can start talking to agents on Wednesday about deals for players. No deals can be official until Dec. 9.

Also: source says players union "authorization cards" have been sent out to be signed and returned to reform union.

One PR person can be on premises during players workouts. No coaches or GMs until deal ratified. Media allowed to attend.

Teams can begin speaking to agents Wednesday, according to league memo, with practice facilities opening Thursday. But ...

    ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein
Teams are NOT allowed to enter into oral or written agreements with players before free agency starts but can speak to agents starting WEDS

    SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears
Coaches and front office execs can't be in the gym at workouts. Trainers and strength coaches can assist, but can't supervise or participate
