I don’t consider Robinson and LeVert bad money because of the length of their contract. Robinson’s contract is also largely non-guaranteed so you could get off of it in 27 for pennies on the dollar. LeVert is expiring and not a bad bench piece. I’ll take expiring contracts and bad frp’s to get off of Durant’s cancerous presence. Sometimes you have to own up to your mistakes and take a step back even if it means we miss the playoffs next year. The off-season moves this team has made are an insult to the fan base.
I phrased that incorrectly so my point was unclear. It's not that they are absolutely "bad" money, it's that LeVert and Robinson are relatively bad money vs. a ~$25M trade exception, which could be generated if Detroit does a deal for a big contract today before the moratorium ends. That giant trade exception is significant positive value currency. Detroit pretty clearly set up their deals this moratorium for this purpose - trading out Isaiah Stewart for nothing in return, then Marcus Sasser for nothing in return etc. are very strange otherwise. I doubt they were targeting KD from the beginning, but pretty clear they were setting up to take in some star big contract this way (they were trying to get Kawhi, then Kyrie, etc.) in this structure. All I'm saying is that that window ends today, so if Detroit was going to make a push they would do it in this window they set up for themselves.
It never will be. These guys are acting like we had an incredible owner under cheap ass Les Alexander, but you know, it hasn't been our year for multiple decades. I've resigned myself that I unfortunately can't reprogram my fanhood so I am stuck rooting for mediocrity for the rest of my life. As they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day, so just like the Knicks and James Dolan, eventually our time will come again.
let’s keep our fingers crossed then. I’m not gonna get my hopes up because if Stone is holding out for three 1sts or some sort of lopsided return, a deal is not getting done. But we really do need to keep adding to our draft pick coffers. It’s the best thing we can do to keep building for the future. Keeping KD without contending is malpractice.
A KD trade hinges on a KD ‘demand’. Base/starting point of a Piston deal IMO = KD/Reed/Alpi - JD/Ausur/Tim Duncan Robinson
Stone always holds out for more, but it never materializes. Anybody remember Gordon. We are running it back with the awesome addition of Marcus Smart and Bogi, what a bunch of sh*t.
This is a fanbase that has watched Westbrook wreck an offense shooting .275 and saying he has to go, they can't coexist to watching Sengun and Amen at .300 and .213 complaining how Sengun ruins the spacing (nevermind he's a center and supposed to be in the paint) to wanting to add another .200 shooter to that mix. At some point you figure people might realize 2 non shooters doesn't work and three is completely broken. It's like doubling down on stupid.
Trey Murphy may be out of the running, leaving KD as the last mega shooter trade option for teams like Detroit. Pay up and come get him! Pelicans would need to be blown away to trade Trey Murphy? Jul. 06, 2026, 8:16 AM PDT Shamit Dua: On the Trey Murphy front, I'm told that while the Pelicans are fielding a steady stream of inbound calls, they have made it clear they'll only listen if they are blown away. Pelicans are content to keep Murphy and are not actively shopping him x.com
So which BS reporter do you believe? The one that said they decreased their ask from 4 to 3 frp or this one. Journalism is a complete sh*t show now days.
I've wanted Murphy iii on this team since that draft and have wondered ever since how we could get him here - but I disagree on the use of picks right now for a non-superstar. We don't have a #1 and until we do, we need to keep our draft powder dry. Murphy is a great supporting player but we need to have that #1 on the roster before we go spending picks on supporting players. What we need in a Durant trade is picks and or young players to make that star possible when he comes available.
Lol, here come more rumors... https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/blockbuster-4-team-rockets-trade-134557338.html
I can see it this way. I think Murphy is the perfect fit with Amen or Sengun, but you are right that without a true #1 we won’t be contenders. Would still happily convert some of our young talent and a pick or two into Trey Murphy. What I’ve learned this offseason is that really good plsyers on really good contracts are more valuable to teams than top 20 players on really expensive contracts. Murphy is one of the best contract values in the league and he’s still young.
