Honestly spending $300 on an old LG OLED sounds pretty attractive. I didn't realize they were that cheap used. I have a perfectly fine but terrible Vizio budget 55-incher. I never found the justification to spend $1k+ on a OLED tv, but for $300 I feel like it would bring me happiness for at least a couple of years, and anything longer is gravy.

So my eyes have finally been attracted to various 100 inch TVs. Costco has one for $1400 that even the wife told me to get it if I want. Just have to figure where to shuffle or give away a 70 or 83 inch. I currently have a sony flagship 83 inch that is fantastic but sitting 14' away my old eyes have trouble reading things like notes, papers ect without pausing and getting up to read. I dont think the loss of picture quality will be much of a deal breaker but features like BT connection for my headset is a biggie.

Anyone have a recommendation or have purchased that big of a screen lately?

Damn, man, maybe you just need new glasses - it'd be cheaper! :D

Oh no...my older Sony 1080P HDTV went out!

Oh no...unplugging it and plugging it back in doesn't work!

Oh no...it's flashing a red light four times and repeating!

Oh no...the picture turns on briefly but then it flashes red again!

Oh no...this two line phone is junk!

Alright...now that that's been said...what are the best deals on 55" 4k HDTVs, the better models, etc.? Damn. I’ve been out of the game! I wasn’t even in!

Oh no...the batteries in my mouse need replacing and I have the battery cover taped on!

    Oh no!

Is this something that needs to happen ASAP or are you getting feedback now so that you will be an informed buyer when we get to Black Friday at the end of November?

    Oh no…forgot about Black Friday!

    Oh no…it’s the main TV!

    ASAP probably!

Just for kicks....Amazon Prime said it could deliver this tomorrow:

Hisense Fire TV 55" Class 55U65QF Series Mini-LED Smart TV | Amazon

Food for thought...the Sony Bravia 5 series costs twice as much for Mini-LED (which you can't get before the 5 series) than the model linked above (which has Alexa support...which is my ecoysystem) and the refresh rate is higher on above model:

Amazon.com: Sony BRAVIA 5 55 Inch TV, Mini LED, 4K Smart Google TV, XR Processor with AI Technology,120hz Television with Dolby Vision/Atmos, Exclusive Features for PlayStation®5, K-55XR50, 2025 Model : Electronics

I'm thinking the Hisense might make the most....sense...even if it is probably clogged with Fire TV Amazon ads.

I really don't want to get up there in price.

Oh no...am I about to get tariffed?

I have this old JVC D-ILA HDTV "Beast of a HDTV" that uses a sodium bulb/cartridge in its place for now. It will hold me over for a while. Lifted that heavy beast myself. It's no thin, light profile HDTV...that's for sure. I'm a tough guy so.

Now, I can do my due diligence and get a deal on Black Friday I guess.

I decided I'm going from 55" to 65" with a Black Friday deal. I'll probably go for this new mini-LED tech since it's the latest in LED tech.

I spent a little while having to rework my cables. My JVC D-ILA only supports 1080i so Xbox One would only pass 720p as it doesn't do 1080i...only the p's. But, 720p is cropping off the sides. So, had to bypass the XBox One and go straight from DirecTV receiver to AV receiver to TV via HDMI. Now, I can get 1080i.

I also ordered a new $40-ish lamp for the D-ILA as the current lamp is shiyat and brightness is faded (in fact, adjusting brightness or picture settings on TV does nothing since lamp is degraded).

The only thing wrong with the JVC D-ILA is I took it apart and tried to clean the dust off the mirror it reflects the picture off of. It turns out that, even when using a microfiber cloth, that mirror scratches very easily. So, you can see scratches if you look closely. That's why I went to another TV in the first place. Well...that and TV is from 2005. But, it still works fine. Just don't focus in on the little scratches that are most noticable when presenting white. Not that big a deal, though.

    Fun with TVs.

It's just weird that I can get it to display a picture briefly. Then, it craps out.

Bro, "Black Friday" deals have been going on all year. LG has been dumping their tv's on the market if you are part of their Partner Program. It depends on what you want to spend. If you're content with getting the biggest screen at the cheapest price, you can buy whenever. LG has been packaging their best soundbars (soundbars suck) with their C5's and G5's for hundreds less than what most retail prices are just for the tv itself, and it's been going on all year with on/off "sales".

Maybe prices'll be better on Black Friday, but then if you wait another month, it'll be better than the Black Friday price. lol. But, nowadays, like I said, you need to watch prices throughout the year, because on a lot of items prices may actually be cheaper the weeks/months leading up to BF, not around BF itself.

I've actually been working with Copilot to narrow down what features I like along with reliability, OS, less ads, Dolby Vision, 120 Htz, and Mini-LED and such. And, it came up in the conversation that LGs are already discounted and won't likely see more discounts on Black Friday. I'm looking at a LG QNED90TUA 2024 model using mini-LED tech. But, the understanding is a 2025 OLED model has "perfect blacks" but runs a burn-in risk compared to mini-LED (which doesn't have the issue). Both TVs are comparable in price at $1090-ish on Amazon.

    OLED B5 (2025)
    Feature LG OLED B5 (2025)
    Panel Type: OLED (self-lit pixels)
    Black Levels: Perfect black
    Contrast: Infinite contrast
Color Accuracy: Superior with Perfect Color
HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, Filmmaker Mode
    Processor: α8 AI Processor Gen2
Gaming Features: 120Hz, 0.1ms response, G-Sync, FreeSync, VRR
    HDMI 2.1 Inputs: 4
OS & Smart Features webOS 24, AI Concierge, 300+ LG Channels
    Price ~$1,099
Amazon.com: LG 65-Inch Class OLED AI 4K B5 Series Smart TV w/Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR10, AI Super Upscaling 4K, Filmmaker Mode, Wow Orchestra, Alexa Built-in (OLED65B5PUA.AUSZ, 2025) : Electronics

    QNED90TUA (2024)
    Feature LG QNED90TUA (2024)
    Panel Type:
    Mini-LED (backlit)
Black Levels: Very good, but not perfect
Contrast: High contrast with local dimming
Color Accuracy: Strong, but not OLED-level
HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10, Filmmaker Mode
    Processor: α8 AI Processor
Gaming Features: 20Hz, VRR, Game Optimizer
    HDMI 2.1 Inputs: 4 4
OS & Smart Features webOS 24, similar features
    Price ~$1,096

Amazon.com: LG 65QNED90TUA 65-Inch 4K HDR Smart Quantum Dot NanoCell Mini LED TV (2024) Bundle with 2 YR CPS Enhanced Protection Pack : Electronics

Seems like the OLED is the better TV but I worry about screen burn-in with static images.

There are other cheaper LG models. I’m still looking around at this mess.

Quit relying on Copilot so much. lol.

That 65" B5 was on sale earlier today on the LG Partner Store for $810 + tax if you use the coupon "EARLYSAVINGS". They have since bumped the price up to $891 + tax. It's their "BLACK FRIDAY PRICE". lol. You can either get a free stand or free wall mounting with it (I wouldn't choose the latter as they use Handy and Handy is hit or miss as to if they do a good job or screw up something from what I've read).

You will be my middleman ordering through your highly coveted LG Partner Store.

I guess it’s comes down to one of those two LG models I mentioned above. The cheaper ones don’t support Dolby Vision and are 60 Hz. I’m done with 60.

Yea but the nits is considered low for Dolby vision resulting in a less bright screen. The nits on the mini-led are highresulting in brighter display needed for hdr and Dolby vision even if blacks aren’t perfect. These eyes aren't that good. Even OLED evo model upgrade has low nits. It’s only when you upgrade to their next model up that nits falls in the mid range for Dolby vision.

So, for these eyes, I need brighter for my sun-getting room and eyes. I need more nits… not nuts… NITS!

It’s plenty bright , the mini led stuff is only good if you want a huge tv with a room full of open windows

OLED will probably be better but C series at the minimum. The upgrade from 55 to 65 in the room should help. It looks like burn-in is less of an issue since they changed the organic compound and added pixel refreshing/shifting features.

The only way you can tell if it’s a B vs C is if you put them next together
And it’s not noticeable on regular content

Yea but the C5 is brighter with better color clarity. Also, the video you posted had a comparison between a smaller C5 set and a larger B5 set? What up wit dat? Lastly, at Costco, the C5 is only $100 more than the B5 ($1199 and $1099 respectively; this includes an extended 5 year warranty on the TV so I guess best to buy at Costco eh?). So, $100 more for a better processor, more nits, smoother motion, more brightess...seems like a bargain to me. I won't have two to stand side-by-side to compare. I'll only have the one. And, they certainly won't be different sizes which can mislead when comparing. lol

WhAt Up WiT dAt? What up wit dat?
