He did not look like Daishen Nix at all out there. I'd also add that his three point percentage may be skewed by the fact he's the #1 option in the G League. They will have a man in his face at all times, if not a double team. Here, he'll be the 5th option every time he's on the floor. So while I'm not expecting him to morph into Buddy Hield, I won't be surprised if his shooting looks much more respectable here.
That's the difference between makes and misses, I guess, when one game defines the canvas. Let's put him in the Franchise Player pile, rightfully so. I mean, he made them; he didn't miss. All that matters in the one-game that other fan bases might be deluded, we establish accurate expectations consistently.
I don't think its over-reacting! He's played well everywhere he's been. 1) He played well in college. 2) He played well in Boston but they had too many players in front of him. 3) He played well in the G-League and earned MVP.
Insert Scola GIF “he look ok” On this team, someone should pretty much always have an opportunity to have a game like the one he had the other night. Doesn’t mean they will but the opportunity should be there. This assumes KD is in the lineup. Teams will have to choose someone to fade.
I looked up what Celtics fans say about JD. Apparently he rarely got minutes in his 3 years with the Celtics so he was sent to the G-league where he won the MVP. Celtics fans describe him as not a good fit in their system because he's a "floor general" type PG, which is perfect for our needs actually. It probably explains why he looked so good in our system. He's not a great 3pt shooter.. but maybe he worked on it this summer and improved? It's hard to judge just based on one pre-season game. He has played point guard for all his career and you can tell that's his natural position. He basically plays that role effortlessly. He's just big enough to be average defensively, which is good enough for our team. Overall Celtics fans were pretty down on him when he got cut from the team, many of them cited as him being selfish and not willing to adjust his game to the system. Maybe his attitude was bad while on the Celtics but in this league, when you get cut, you often pull your head out of your ass and start being a professional. I believe JD to be a better fit for us than Cam because he should be more mature.
he's a better 3 ball shooter than has been shown so far that catch and shoot in the corner where the ball came in high and he dipped with it up high and got rid of it quick ala batum or jerami grant was an eye opener. he can shoot a good 3 -ball
If Cam can get minutes, Davison should as well. Also because Okogie is not necessarily a great shooter, Reed has not proven he can get his shot off and be consistent with it and Aaron Holiday has one good game every 10-15, which just does not cut it. Davison should be a lock to stay with us and be up for that 9-10th spot. Let them all battle it out, competition is good
