I think everyone was wrong on Sengun, to a different level. He's become better than anyone would expect and much faster than anyone would expect too. Even if you imagined he would be playing like him today, you would imagine it to be 1 or 2 years later and you would still be an optimist. As for Green, I am optimistic. I agree with the shortcomings you mentioned. But I also see that he is coachable, willing to learn and not some a55hole like kpj. We just need to accept that he might not be the superstar we dreamt of, and even if he is, or whatever his ceiling is, it will take him long, longer than most players, to get there. If you are expecting him to dictate an nba game, it will not be soon. But I think he should probably earn his next contract here and I don't think it is a good idea to give up on him. One thing that I can't make much sense is Rockets having a KPJ project and drafting all the good character, hard-working types in Sengun, Bari, Tari, Garuba, Amen. These things are complete opposite moves. And Green is similar to the good character guys, though the rockets wanted to market him with KPJ. He lacked fundamentals deeply and the rockets and Silas didn't help him at all. It should be an upward trajectory from now on.
Let it be known I was one of the chosen ones from the beginning timez. From page 3: Comment brought me back to that time...... We were all debating what to do with those picks and players like Christian Wood. Pretty sure I was suggesting using all of our other picks from the draft (except #2) plus Wood to move up in the draft to #7 then selecting Sengun. I also was in the Green at #2. Whoops cant win 'em all. His game just had "it" back then. The instincts were on full display.
Well, everyone gets some calls wrong, so no bashing there. The only problem would be if you double or triple down, but as long as you let go of your ego it's okay to admit you were vastly wrong.
before the pearly gates, they will be asking about making a case for starting Bruno Fernando over Sengun after watching Sengun for a whole year
This thread convinced me that Alpi was the guy before he was drafted. Watched all his highlights and wanted him at #2! Wrecking shop as a pro at 18 had me convinced. I’ve been all in on him since. So… thank you, OP, for opening my eyes early.
Clutch was wrong all along. That's not a problem though. At some point you can admit it or at least see the clear results and drop it. Clutch was too proud and continued his campaign to a point he becomes an obvious hater to a key rox player without a legit reason. All this senseless lack of defense, stamina, rim protector, lob threat sub campaigns against sengun which hurt team and poisoned this forum wouldn't survive this long without his endorsement. Sad part is, there are still haters out there waiting for slightest chance to diminish sengun even if it hurts the team too.
