The Spurs look to be 2 years away....... maybe Fox would help them mature but his time line is questionable with the time lines of Harper and Wemby....

And Castle if he is not traded.

The Shooter aspect, while it should be a reason to be concerned about, given that they are a couple years away, they have more than time to make up for it....2 years is half an eternity in NBA time.....they can make it happen for real.

If Victor and Fox are both healthy the entire year, Spurs will at least be a .500 team and a lock for a play-in spot.

IMO, the only way they will reach #6 to avoid the play-in is by having at least two of the top 8 WC teams from last year collapse. Although I can think of 2-3 teams where this could happen, it's unlikely.

On the other hand, if Victor goes to another level on offense and averages ~30/11, Castle also levels up and Dylan Harper makes an impact, they might win 45 games. Fox is a special closer and if their focus is actually winning games instead of letting Victor do whatever he wants to do, they might surprise everybody and earn #6.

I don't like Victor, but injuries are the only thing stopping him from being a generational player.

I think the West is going to be a blood bath. I'm not sure there will be much separation from 4-10 in the West (at least until injuries start to pile up), such that a 2-week injury at the wrong time could cost a team a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. Some teams are going to get banged up at the wrong time (e.g., star players can't miss games against weak teams).

I think San Antonio has an uphill battle for a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, but I'm just not sure how some of these older teams handle such thin margins.

I kind of see Fox as a pre injury Isiah Thomas (the second one)

I can tilt my head and think this could be shrewd if they only had Fox, Castle, and Wemby. You lock down and overpay Fox while Wemby and Castle are still cheapish (even with a rookie extension).

I'm glad the Spurs didn't trade back in this recent draft. On the other hand, maybe one of Castle and Harper will be traded.

    They wont be good.

No one on their team can shoot besides Wemby. Honestly it kinda pisses me off looks like they'll get yet another top 3 pick.

Paying Fox 57M is gonna hurt the Spurs starting 2026 when Wemby is due his supermax extension. After that Castle and then Harper gonna want to be paid. Lets see what happens.

.500 is not a shoe-in for the play-in this year. The tenth seed (Dallas) was just 4 games under and that is with mulitiple injuries. The only team in the top ten that I don’t see necessarily going .500 is Sactown. The West is absolutely loaded. I do think having Fox and Wemby the entire year will make SA a better team. I’m not high on Castle, Harper in his rookie year, or Sochan so think there overall roster still kind of sucks. In reality, I think SA should have tanked another year instead of signing Fox. I guess they are nervous that Wemby’s career may be a short one. 2026 draft is loaded. It would sure be nice for any team to have a top 5 pick.

Playing Wemby was more important than tanking. I'm not much of a fan of their roster outside Wemby, but they were definitely too good when Wemby was on the court to effectively tank. As soon as Wemby went down, they tried their hardest to tank. They ended up with 2nd pick anyway.

TBD but I have a suspicion that the Texas triangle is back.
