Silas was brought in to coach Harden not to tank, Harden hadnt made that trade demand yet when Silas got hired and he also approved of the hiring. Tanking was a pivot Stone made when Harden started throwing basketballs at Jeasean Tate and wearing a fat suit to games. Yes it was also an owner decision but clearly Stone as the GM is the one who either proposed or agreed with it as well. You are the one oblivious to what occurred since Rox weren't intending to tank that's why they traded for John Wall, signed CWood and Cousins. Morey is a consensus good GM so if you think Morey sucks as well your standards are too high and the GM needs to make zero mistakes before he can be a good GM in your eyes. And you didn't even talk about Presti what about Presti? Do you know Cameron Payne? Ousmane Dieng? Perry Jones III? JRE? All these and more are draft busts so you think Presti is also a bad GM? Just cuz it's your personal opinion doesn't mean you aren't blind. Someone out there think Michael Jordan sucks ass. Doesn't mean he isn't blind. Why don't you explain why you think Stone signing free agents makes him a bad GM? You said it worked but he is still a bad GM? Lol can you even explain how that makes any sense? How am I speaking in absolutes and you aren't? You said Stone isn't a good GM so isn't that an absolute as well? Lol clearly blind.
Didn't like how he left. He didn't have to say he was "taking time off" to spend with family. His footprint was all over the organization. Be honest
Harden did not approve of the SIlas hiring. Silas being hired was the major reason he asked for a trade. Harden wanted Lue.
https://www.clnsmedia.com/rockets-coach-stephen-silas-received-blessing-of-westbrook-harden/ If he wanted Lue why did he demand a trade to the Nets who had Nash or Sixers who had Rivers?
I think lazy might not be the right word, but definitely tentative. I think he's not experienced enough to really deviate from the norm and try to make big splashes. Green, Jabari and Amen were kinda safe picks that didn't deviate much from the big board. A more daring GM might have gone with Scottie for example like Masai who passed on Suggs or Kings drafting Keegan instead of Ivey. The way he sat on EG, Wall and Wood just makes me think he doesn't know when to pull the trigger. I do give him credit for the later first round picks, he's not afraid to deviate from normal thinking, other GMs passed on Sengun because of height and athleticism, they said Tari is too dumb to make plays in the NBA, they passed on Whitmore with concerns on his bball IQ and injuries. In hindsight, we should have traded Harden to Philly and asked for Maxey and fewer picks.
Silas is a terrible coach. Maybe he's an acceptable assistant (doesn't look like that either) . If he was brought in yo coach Harden why did James bail? Wall and Cousins were cap space. You know this. As yo the rest, it's just matter of opinion which is fine. We're not going to change each other's mind. Circular debate
James bailed cuz he wanted to win a ring, coach doesn't win rings players do. Wall and cousins were capspace? Huh? Cousins signed for vet min what capspace are you talking about? Wall had a 1 yr shorter contract than WB that's not capspace either. Some things are not a matter of opinion, some things are just objectively true.
First off he wanted the Sixers not the Nets but he was willing to go there. He wanted Lue as a coach in Houston once SIlas was hired that wouldnt be possible would it? So he wanted to leave what part of that dont you get? "It turns out there's a reason James Harden didn't have any communication with new Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas until he reported to training camp Wednesday. Per Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today, Harden wanted to be traded "as soon as" the organization hired Silas." Harden confirmed this later in press conferences when asked why he wanted to leave he said Houston doesnt have what it takes to be competitive. He only said that after they hired Silas. Harden is no fool he knew SIlas was a **** coach. He eventually ended up with Lue btw. "Joe Vardon of The Athletic reported Harden was upset with Houston's decision to hire Silas as D'Antoni's replacement because he wanted Tyronn Lue to get the job. Lue, instead, was hired by the Los Angeles Clippers as Doc Rivers' replacement."
I said sixers or Nets. If coaching was so important to Harden how come his two trade demands were all about playing with other stars and not star coaches? Steve Nash isn't a good coach and everybody knew that Doc Rivers had lots of haters back then as well. If he wanted Lue why isn't his trade demand to any team that hired Lue? Did he say Clippers when Lue was hired? Or Nets and Sixers who didn't have Lue? LOL so when Harden demanded a trade to go to Sixers to play with Embiid and Nets to play with KD all he really wanted was play under Lue?
So you're familiar with Harden's line of thinking? I certainly don't know but it seems like it came down to money and distrust with Morey which happened again. They were. Wall literally sat on the vench collecting a huge paycheck. Cousins was similar to Melo. That's accurate but you're acting as your opinion is a fact
Why dont you ask Harden that? Maybe Harden thought with Durant and Kyrie coaching didnt matter. Or maybe since MDA was an assistant with Nash he thought he would be fine. Im well aware of why harden left. And so when I saw that you posted something thats not true I let you know as far as the other question research or ask Harden yourself. Why does common sense elude so many people on this board. I can only stand 1 day on here a month im out lol
Not that it matters, the Silas hire is a Morey left over move imo. I don't know if people remember, when McHale was fired, Silas and Dantoni were the two front runners for the job. The Houston front office was always high on Silas. I think during that period when Morey left, Stone kinda just did Morey's left over ideas. I think Christian Wood was also a Morey move, we were linked with him for a while https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...i-top-candidates-houston-rockets-coaching-job
Apologies, your not a idiot. You just go to idiot lengths to not give Stone credit he's clearly earned. Enjoy your weekend
It is not a secret, fans who know the inside out in the organization know who the smart workers are...... I find it interesting that so many fans are here for decades but are only interested in the superficialities of this business...... It is a year long circling forth and back.....
Our roster is so flawed we're playing winning basketball 34 games in? I think the real cons are the posters running marathons just to slight Stone. We're CLEARLY competitive every night & our players have bought in to what Stone has sold them.
Silas being bad is definitely hindsight imo. Once upon a time I remember Silas having a great reputation around the league and was linked to many head coaching jobs. I was curious and I found the thread with Silas being a finalist along with D'antoni in 2016. You can read through the thread, a lot of posters wanted him instead of Mike. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...g-silas-with-hollins-as-top-assistant.275008/
Good memories and bad memories.........but liked the way they hired an MIT student as assistant GM and built him up.
Backhanded compliment but that's OK. We all have differing ways of thinking. Doesn't make either of us right or wrong. We can disagree on Stone and still hope it works out for the Rockets
