How much would our % chance to win the series change if it was diaz every game instead of maldy? Replacing the worst player in the league with a star level player. Probably the worst player decision in terms of World Series probability in history i would imagine?

Are they gonna move the start of our game to another channel or are we gonna miss the first few innings?

Very little. In one game, any individual lineup decision can only have a small impact on the win probability.

There are 10 guys playing, so 1 can only have so much impact. You are talking 4 at bats and the difference between an all star and a scrub is usually not even 1 hit every 10 at bats.

Edit: Didn’t realize you said the entire series, but it’s a relatively small amount even over 5 games.

Hello game thread, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left them seeds while I was sweeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of baseball

wouldn't change is a ridiculous statement. If dusty played dubon instead of yordan for the series, of course the probability changes. The question is how much does it hurt us

    That’s a terrible attempt at a correlation

it isn’t ridiculous. What’s ridiculous is you actually think a rookie shifts the odds of the current ws champs with the catcher they just literally won it with

    stop with either casual assumption

this is just bizarre, you're saying maldy and diaz are roughly equal players?

Your question would the odds change right now. They wouldn’t. The stros would stay the exact same favs. Maldy could get hurt and be out the rest of the postseason and the stros odds would remain constant. You know why bc there’s a whole lot more that determines the outcome then their catcher

you act like this is basketball and a starting 5 missing their star. Nah baseball doesn’t work that way

The only way the odds dont change is if the 2 playere are identical.
