I have zero idea who Bump is (I’m just not interested). But I do want to comment on Garland. I think Garland has done a marvelous job. No one could change a victimized mindset that the DOJ is not victimizing you. It’s simply impossible by definition. There is a solution: group therapy.

You misunderstand the quote. DOJ is not victimizing me. Garland is the victim here along with his reputation

I don't care much about Hunter Biden, but I am serious when there are allegations of bribery that can tarnish the presidency and the actions carried by Weiss don't add up or make any sense. They aren't being transparent, so it stands for questions to be asked,

Chalk that up to the service light in need of a reeducation.

    Not talking about you :)

I'm not very familiar with Weiss or interested in commenting on him specifically. My understanding is that Trump nominated him as a US Attorney, the Senate confirmed him, and he began investigating Hunter Biden in 2019. Biden chose not to fire him, as was his right, so Weiss continued the investigation. Recently, at Weiss's request, Garland appointed him special counsel.

Garland has given Weiss space to operate independently. However, some on the right wrongly claim Garland is obstructing Weiss, while some on the left say Garland has given Weiss too much leeway. But independence is precisely the role of a special counsel.

Sure, Garland is under attack, but I doubt he sees himself as a victim. The real victim mentality comes from Trump instilling in the GOP this sense of perpetual persecution - first by their own DOJ, now by Biden's. With that mindset, they'll always feel targeted, regardless of the facts.

The nature of these investigations is that they take time and can't be transparent until concluded and reported on. So I'm unsure what transparency you refer to. The process run its course away from public view and it can be very unsatisfactory, but I think there is good reasons for it to be run that way.

This is prob the wrong thread, anyhow, there's a finger pointing exchange between Weiss and Garland where Weiss claims he was impeded from filing charges in NY and California while Garland said he was free to do so without special counsel powers. Garland seems to be more accurate because a prosecutor from one district can file charges in another, they just need to hash and negotiate with the prosecutor of that district. I don't believe Weiss has ever directly claimed those prosecutors got in the way, though no one is saying anything now that Weiss has been appointed special counsel.

The issue is with the statue of limitations, half have lapsed from the time Biden served as VP, which would not have had Weiss effectively filed charges. Underreporting 8(?) million in income is pretty significant and could've been used as probable cause or leverage for any further wrongdoing, much like how Muller, Durham, and Lay used their prosecutorial powers to sniff out a paper trail.

Instead, Weiss struck a plea bargain with Biden's attorneys, much of which appears to have heen brokered between pro-Biden prosecutors, that would've given Hunter further immunity from future discoveries. Except, it fell through because...

I know it's hard to catch up with the noise surrounding the topic, but the entire story stinks. There's no proof or smoking gun, and obstruction doesn't have to be proven. If this still doesn't add up come election time, Garland will helm an embattled department he was ostensibly hired to fix.

Garland had one and only one job. Put the President’s son and his son’s rascally penis in jail. One job.

Hunter struck a deal with pro biden lawyers? Wow you should call him Jim Jordan as you're breaking news with this development. Mind telling us who these "Pro biden" prosecutors were who struck a deal?

Do you just make things up?

Perhaps I missed something but what charges where Weiss considering that would matter if the statue of limitations ran out when Joe Biden was VP?

@Invisible Fan did same thing in UKR thread where he just made things up on the fly. In the Bidenomics thread he does the same thing with debt. I don't know why people can't speak in truth no more

I think you are referring to something back in June or July of this year. Unless Weiss has recanted what he previously stated, it was not according to Weiss's account. Weiss has always maintained that he has ultimate authority to bring charges in any district.

    Letter from Weiss: 2023.06.30-OUT-Jordan-David Weiss.pdf (justthenews.com)

Outside of actual facts, people are just guessing. Both Weiss and Garland will not comment and should not comment on ongoing investigations. Congress operates differently - they get to spit all they want. Media as well.

Take an example of guessing / spitting. Why suddenly name Weiss special counsel? I have no idea and don't even want to guess - let the process play out and we'll see soon enough. But if I'm to guess - after the plea deal collapse (and yes, there are all kinds of political and media stories on them - those are noise), Weiss probably needed to be named special counsel for the reason he stated in the letter - so that he can file charges independent of any local prosecutor. It doesn’t mean that he will file charges, it just means that he can. If another plea agreement doesn’t materialize, it’s likely he will file charges and the case will go to court.

I fully agree everything is noise and see it that way. I await factual information and the actual outcome. In the meantime, I don't really care. It's noise.

I know it doesn't take you much to attack other people's character, but I'll bite this once...where did I make things up or lie as you've stated before in the Ukraine thread, yet couldn't understand the sequence of events that took place?

Take @StupidMoniker's 1000 dollar bet. You're successful and have nothing to lose. :)

I normally wouldn't care, but it's starting to add up for me.

I sure as hell don't want Trump to win again on scandal-fatigue much like Hillary, but this doesn't help things either.

Having a situation where one side credibly accuses another candidate of multiple crimes while the other side accuses the other candidate of an impeachable offense doesn't really set the bar on democracy or faith in the American System.

I don't care doesn't mean I wouldn't care. It means, I don't care for the political and media noise. I care for factual information and I do still have trust in our institutions and their processes, with all their flaws.

Biden and Trump, factually, on the matter of corruption and democracy are night and day. We aren't talking about allegations, most of which can be said to be political and thus should not be taken at face value, but viewed with much more skeptical eyes. One candidate did incite Jan 6, insisted on the Big Lie, and is facing 4 indictments. The other - none of that.

Where in this story did it ever say that the WH was ever involved in the investigation? What in the world are you talking about? Seriously? Now somehow biden is responsible for what Weiss does and his **** ups? What are you blabbering about?

Nothing in that article ever said anywhere that Joe was ever involved in anything. The fbi is ran by a Trump noninee. So now magically biden is resonsible for what Trump appointees do?

If biden wanted to interfere in the investigation why the hell wouldnt he just have fired Weiss from the beginning? Weiss said under oath that Garland NEVER interfered in his investigation.

If weiss is incompetent than why the hell did Bill barr assign him to the case?

The entire story hes talking about is that the David weiss and the fbi were neglegent in their investigation of hunter biden and somehow that means Joe is corrupt. Utter brainrot seriously. The FBI and David weiss were both appointed by Trump nominees.

Can you imagine if Biden had fired Weiss and appointed someone else? Biden doesnt fire Weiss and Weiss runs an awful investigation and its bidens fault. If biden fires Weiss then biden is corrupt and hes hiding. You cant please folks are oblivous to facts @Invisible Fan

Where exactly is the crime of the WH trying to cover up the investigation? What crime did biden committ again?

It's bidens fault that David Weiss ran a incompetent investigation even though there's zero evidence of Weiss being influenced by the doj. David Weiss and the fbi director both installed by trump but somehow it's bidens fault the investigation was awful.

99.9% of the Biden conspiracies are just braindead talking points

I didn't say anything of a crime for Joe. Is that what you're accusing me of lying here? Sounds like you're making things up and throwing it at other members.

    WTF are you talking about?

The Legal System is finally catching up with the One Man Crime Wave. As a minor, secondary concern the Ds are politically making hay.

OTOH the Rs are desperately trying to find something on Biden … perhaps to distract from the from the facts that the person leading their party has been twice impeached and has been arrested four times on 91 counts.

This **** show has been brought to us by the One Man Crime Wave and his win-at-all-costs sycophants.

Biden did pet a dog the other day. What a psycho killer thing to do! There is that.
