New Orleans to get 15-20 inches of rain over a day and a half. Would help if Ida would move along a little faster. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at4.shtml?start#contents

Ida is very close to a Category 5 hurricane with max sustained winds of 155 mph. 2. Landfall is expected around 1 PMjust west of Grand Isle with 155 mph to 160 mph winds. 3. Hurricane force sustained winds are likely in west New Orleans and across Baton Rouge 4. Inland flooding and tornadoes are also expected. Our Forecast A reconnaissance plane investigating Ida has found winds to 155 mph, which makes Ida very nearly a Category 5 hurricane. The center of Ida will be making landfall just west of Grand Isle, Louisiana around 1 PM. It is possible that Ida could strengthen to a Category 5 hurricane with max sustained winds of 160 mph prior to landfall. Either way, Ida is a very dangerous hurricane. Our forecast takes the center directly over Baton Rouge around 11 PM. Though Ida will be weakening as it moves inland, sustained winds may still be 80 mph to 90 mph with gusts 110 mph to 120 mph as it passes Baton Rouge. Sustained winds may reach 75 mph in New Orleans, with gusts over 100 mph there this afternoon and this evening. Once the winds decrease below tropical storm strength over western Mississippi tomorrow, the threat from Ida will not be over. Flooding rains are expected across southern to central Mississippi extending north into Tennessee. While the heaviest rains are likely across southeast Louisiana and SW Mississippi where 10 to 15 inches will likely occur, up to a foot of rain could fall as far north as central Mississippi. Localized 8 inch totals are possible as far north as Tennessee. In addition to the heavy rain, Ida will generate tornadoes north and east of its center through at least Monday morning. Expected Impacts on Land Southeast Louisiana: Catastrophic wind and tidal surge damage is expected near where the eye makes landfall. Locations within the eyewall may experience power outages that last for weeks, along with catastrophic structural damage, including to well-built structures. Extended power outages could also occur outside of the eyewall. Flooding rains will create widespread street flooding and areas of flood damage. Coastal Mississippi: Significant coastal flooding is expected due to moderate onshore flow and large waves moving ashore. Inland Mississippi to Tennessee: Flooding is likely to result in travel delays. The greatest chance of more widespread power outages will occur over SW Mississippi. Tornadoes likely will cause pockets of significant damage. Expected Impacts Offshore Northwest Gulf of Mexico: Squalls may continue across southeast Louisiana blocks through Monday afternoon when Ida is well inland into Mississippi.
I’ve always wanted eventually to live next to the beach for a few years. I don’t think that will be happening in this life. Doesn’t make sense to take that chance anymore for a myriad of reasons.
I'm guessing that's for the ratings. For those of us that have been following, this is becoming the norm.
come on man houses are not getting less expensive in any aspect no matter. give it some time though I bet
New beach houses actually hold up quite well in these storms. They’re already built to withstand the strong winds, with built-in shutters and storm proof windows/doors, and they’re elevated so no potential storm surge issues.
Plenty, but the biggest deal may be any damage to Port Fouchon... It is the gateway to the offshore platforms and looks like it'll get smashed.
More cams. This guy is going to get himself killed. Does not appear to be a professional. He is in Houma. Is having a bad uhh nose problem.
