Green will focus on strength / conditioning his first year. Ball Handling etc will come with time. Excited to see him get big with the Rockets.
People looking at highlights of the Green vs Cade match up and concluding Cade won. Highlights don't show foul attempts. Cade was smart knowing this would happen so he decided to foul Green intentionally whenever he blew by him and therefore the blow bys by Green on Cade aren't in a highligjt reel on YouTube. Green absolutely blew by Cade in multiple instances but just was fouled to prevent the bucket and those plays aren't in the highlights.
Even on that block Cade had on Green, Jalen went by him with such ease. But for some reason Green wanted to pass, hesitated, then changed his mind allowing Cade to get back in the picture.
Honestly most of his ball handling issues are a result of his thin frame. Being stronger allows you to stave off defenders with your upper body when being hounded and pressed.
Green did a fantastic job adjusting, settling down and playing a high iq team game while still winning the star match up. Future superstar. You're lucky to have this brotha.
Specialized Harden type defense in a 19 year old rookie in his 2nd game, relax. Alot of Rockets fans are harsh and unappreciated and disrespect their players. Prove you deserve greatness and not be ingrates.
To me, Green had a lackluster game, despite the box score. I went into some detail in another thread, but it mostly involves his handle and his shot. One thing that was fairly positive though was getting to the line. Last game, he only had 1FTA, and some people were concerned he was avoiding contact, and wouldn't earn enough trips to the line. A completely different story here. Despite seeing more positives in the first game, he had a much higher TS% than in the first game (~80% vs ~60%). If this is 60% of the Pistons team, it's gonna be hard to out-tank them...
Not weird at all, but tasteless, harsh and toxically typical comments made against brothers. Would be nice if brothers can come to a site and just get good clean respectful analysis without the toxic covert racist code words and phrases. But history and present says I'm expecting way too much from society.
Do you realise how ridiculous your comment is? Truly horrendous. I give a compliment to him. Then I also make a comment that his decision making was not smart at certain parts of the game. Now I'm racist. Now I'm not respectful. Now I'm toxic. ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME MATE. No wonder the world is turning to sh*t when there are people like you out there. The irony of your last sentence is clearly lost on you. I typically need a fair few examples from a poster to clarify their utter stupidity to make sure I don't see their posts again. All it takes is one from you.
Jesus christ. I must be doing a pretty horrific job at hating him, considering I've given him two compliments in this thread. But you know, objective views that were 100% warranted are now racist, toxic, hating, disrespectful. EDIT: just realised it was the same poster I commented again. Thank goodness there's only one person that ridiculous.
He's probably just a tad bit sensitive due to the other thread's monkey discussion. Green made some poor decisions when trapped. He'll get better.
I think JG handled the first schemed double team in the history of summer league pretty well actually. It did take him out of his game for a little while, but I think that is mainly a schematic and team issue on everyone's assignment during that type of zone - seems like Sengun was the only big flashing at times for JG during that defense. Credit to the Pistons they threw the team off for a while and got a 10-11 point lead early. Even better to see Houston just patient and calm. Signs of basketball maturity - really cool to see and we blew those fools out after they were dancing around, and talking their sht early. Very promising.
EXACTLY! AND THE PART I LOVED THE MOST......He did all of that while not having his best game, compared to Cade. Cade had a bad game his first game but bounced back and played what I thought was a A- or B+ game for him. I thought Detriot GAME PLANNED for Jalen and while he didn't have his best game, he was able to calm down and think his way through and his stat line still stood out.
I foresee a divide between SOF's and GOF's already beginning and the underlying difference will be skin color. It's like we have Magic and Bird on the same team! The future is bright!
He also has a high dribble that is going to an issue against really good defenders and double teams. I wanted Mobley, but admit that I was wrong. Green is the real deal as a shooting guard. If you ask him to do a lot of isolation I think it will lessen his effectiveness, at least until he develops a better handle. Can’t wait to see him with a true PG (not Wall).
I'm confident he'll improve his handle due to his work ethic and just how young he is. Guys like Kobe drastically improved their handle from age 19 to their prime years.
