Possibly not, but if we tank properly maybe someone in this draft or the next one will. You don’t get to bottom out with Simmons.

Bottom out to get a player of Simmons caliber in the next four years while you could have had him plus two other picks ?

Simmons and Wood plus two other first round picks from Philly. Both those guys are around the same age and you can build around. The Simmons and a big man model is working in Philly. With a little retooling around him and Wood the Rockets could have been a legitimately good team for the foreseeable future . Now need to tank for years to get to that point

the best thing from the Nets trade isn’t any of the useless players or any of those picks that we received, it’s that it allowed us to be bad enough to be in the running for a top pick

Hope you guys keep these Simmons ball-licking vibes when the playoffs roll around.

    LOL at people projecting Nets picks in 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027. :D

I'd take the Nets trade over the Philly trade 10 times out of 10. Simmons would've been uninspired like Oladipo and then want out after a few years of us missing the playoffs. No thank you.

Nets could lose Durant, Kyrie, and Harden and just court other superstar players. It's in New York. If they show their FO is competent they will have 0 issues courting superstar players.

lol this thread is still going. Bc Simmons and Wall would be a thrill to watch. Theyd still suck and still need to fetch a top 4 pick. All while having simmons on a max

Near future? Some of the kids represented by those 4 first rounders are in junior high right now. Really.

I think the only one they could lose in the near future is Harden if they win a ring or two in the next two years. If they do, he will be the most important piece so the coattail riding nonsense won’t jive hence he will see it as mission accomplished and decideds to return to retire here

Durant will go to whichever team beats the Nets this year, so their future IS hard to project.

Yeah, they were SO successful at courting superstars the last few decades. LOL.

Simmons was not right for this team, unless he was being routed to OKC for our picks back.

Their FO has completely changed. Them being a competently run organization is why Kyrie and KD chose the Nets over the Knicks.

It's a lot like the Clippers who will be a FA destination now that they have a competent FO.

So what was he supposed to do?

    Veto the trade?

Then he would have been fired and Stone would have completed the trade.

You my boy and all but is the big man and Simmons model working in Philly?

I mean what have they really accomplished?

And Embid is more than a bigman and Philly is much more than Simmons and Embid.

I will say that Simmons is the better talent but I am not sold that he is somebody to build around if you want deep playoff runs.

Simmons, MVP candidate Embiid averaging 30 and 11, and shooters is just 23-12 in the East with a +3.4 point differential...good, but not great

What do people really think Simmons was gonna do here next to Wall who is owed almost 93 mil the next 2 years so he’s not going anywhere, Wood, and the worst shooting in the league?

Morey is supposed to do Morey things and restructure the trade so they aren't giving up everything to get Westbrook. Morey knew CP3's value even if Tilman (yes and Harden) didn't. Why was Morey even throwing all that out there if absolutely knew who Westbrook is.

I'm salty. because to me in hindsight the trade feels spiteful. Morey didn't want to trade CP3 so he made a trash deal that Morey would have never ever done.

I don't think we'd be very much better off with Simmons right now, especially long term, but I can't help but wonder how good the Sixers might be with Harden next to this version of Embiid... Could be a nuts team, but Brooklyn is probably still better when healthy.
