the new design actually brings back original design elements and highlights roses--the center piece roses are the “JFK” and the “Peace Rose." The crab apple trees were 60 years old and had grown so large as to shade areas and make cultivation difficult. They weren't cut down, they were dug up and will be transplanted elsewhere. Basically the aesthetic restores Rachel Lambert Mellon's original 1962 design.

What's wrong with it? They both look fine to me.

The new design looks like you’re going into a Marriott conference center.

It’s DC. It’s either Winter or Summer. The flowers should look good during the sweltering humid Summer heat. (90 today for example)

Flowers bloom March through May. Like I said, you don't know how seasons work.

And you appear to have never been to a garden. Roses bloom from spring through fall.

Look at all these beautiful flowers blooming, right now in August, in one of the nicest Gardens in the US and world.

I legitimately expected her to turn this into something too nice for the White House a la Luxembourg or Kennsington Gardens

At the end of the day this doesn’t matter. This newer muted design or the prior more colorful design.

    We still have the Smithsonian.
