Whiteside photo, that isn't DRAFTING. But its these kind of moves too, acquired players that slipped away, the COULDA-HADS. There's Whiteside, of course "Linsanity" at the time. Then under-the-radar moves like Demarre Carroll, Shaun Livingston, Etwaun Moore, James Johnson, etc. Its a credit that Morey found them honestly, it shows he recognizes talent. Some of them he even got BACK. And can only fill 15 spots where only 9 play. But its an IMAGE of talent escaping Morey's reach.

It's very frustrating, especially when you consider that making the playoffs to face the Warriors did absolutely nothing and D-Mo is still holding out.
What exactly does that prove though? That they are not foundation players you can build your team around? Sure. But they are still good role players, considering where we picked them. That Morey treats players as "assets"? Maybe. But that's a whole new off topic discussion.
It means he is not that great at drafting....I mean if they were REALLY good they would still be here right? DD
What I've always maintained as well. Doesnt help when you have posters like WTF Rockets WTF perpetuating how bad a pick an injured rookie Dekker was for a season and actually putting it in his signature. A mid-1st round injured rookie.
He hits a bunch of singles and a double or two. Pretty sure he gets credit from anyone not trolling though...
But that is the Billy Beane way, you win with a bunch of singles, you don't steal a base (no unnecessary risks) - whether that works inthe NBA remains to be seen....so far, not so much. He has taken a low risk high upside trades, but none of those have worked yet.... DD
Without a good foundation, keeping a bunch of good role players won't get you anywhere. Had we had a big three in place already, I'm sure a lot of them would still be here. Some of them he traded for better "assets", others he gave up for fear of risking the "flexibility". You can fault him for forever star chasing. But again, that doesn't mean they are bad draft picks. Most of them are starter quality or key rotation players. To me that's a pretty darn good track record.
I truly do not understand that post. Please at least explain why you think those teams overall drafted better with picks after the Rockets? Just because you compile a list doesn't mean it's better. btw: why did you leave out a lot of years. I mean some of those players are horrible DudeWah's list is better than yours .... arguably for every single team you listed, when you discount players taken ahead of Morey's best pick each year. I don't get it.
Shouldn't he be drafting FOUNDATION pieces? Seems to me your expectations are too low - mine are much higher I want a championship team.. DD
I call my expectations realistic. What's the likelihood of drafting foundation pieces with mid first round picks at best? For every Kawhi, there are dozens of Jimmers out there. Heck, a lot of teams can't even find foundation pieces with top 3 picks.
Thank you J.R. You mean Maury is not special? How can that be? Another Maury a**-kissing thread from Dudewah.
@J.R. is like Comey dropping a letter to congress in November! This post needs more explanation. This drop can be seen as an indictment on Morey's draft practices OR can equally be seen as confirmation of his successes. I'm confused.. which is it?
that is the most random arbitrary list -- literally picking the first data point "2007 - Sixers - Thad Young".....they also passed on Marc Gasol three times.
