That explains the stupidity of him becoming besties with LMA over Kawhi. He's never watched tape of Lamarcus, either.

 

If your goal is to create a team to be a LOCK to beat GS then I'd like to talk to YOU about The Otto Porter Movement because that level of belief and dedication is what we need in our group.

There is ZERO team that is going to be A LOCK to beat GS. You acquire pieces that gets you closer to that goal and if you can get a Top 5 player, when healthy, on your team you don't think twice.

This isn't necessarily directed towards you but the team isn't in a position, financially or personnel wise, to make moves to create a team that can be a LOCK to beat GS. So many people on this board is either in denial of that or can't see that. We have to make moves that might have some risk involve in order to get that marginal chance to beat GSW. No one thought that the team last year, when it was constructed in July, could have won 65 games and had the ability to take the Warriors to a Game 7 in WCF. But they did and Morey took that risk. No saying it was you but I remember a lot of people on this board were whining and crying about the players we sent to the Clippers and how Chris Paul wouldn't help the Rockets be any closer to beating the Warriors.

From my seats, Kawhi knows *exactly* what he wants.

Pops is the one who displays not knowing what he wants by choosing to pamper LMA over keeping his franchise player happy. At best, you can say Pops expected his cake and to eat it to, by expecting Kawhi to continue to be a quiet soldier, while LMA gets pampered for whining.

If you want reading material that will put your mind in a state of zen I have some literature you can read about a certain player in the DC area.

do you have any information that points to him being jealous of LMA? i haven't heard that before. even if true, it still reflects pretty poorly on the guy who quit on his team and pretended to be injured all year because his butt was hurt

 

This would be actually a similar trade Presti pulled off for George, it was all about Boston or Cleveland and everyone was saying "not worth it, he'll go to L.A"...well, we saw how that ended.

aside from how plausible or not a transaction for kashi would be, i want to just comment on how well he would fit in on HOU. he wouldn't have to be Tha Man here with alpha harden assuming all the responsibilities and accountabilities of being the franchise player and Go-To Guy. he wouldn't have to be the emotional leader of the team because CP3 got that covered. he could average an effortless 25pts/game just off the incredibily wide open looks he'd get off the 2 best playmakers in the game. he'd play with homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. wouldn't have to deal with nonstop LA or east coast media hassling a quiet young introvert like himself -- we have only 1 newspaper and they're already on tilman's payroll. jeff bigleydick would make him DPOY. all-nba 1st team w/ pringles on the sidelines. chinese money. VIP at treasures w/ beardo. bonus ipad from murray

I'd rather trade them for valuable, proven assets than use them if they're outside of the lottery. You want to hear a crazy stat? Since Hakeem was drafted in 84, guess how many future All-Stars the Rockets have drafted? Two!!!

Now let's look at how many All-Star players the Rockets have acquired via trade or free agency in the same timeframe:
1. Otis Thorpe (88-89)
2. Clyde Drexler (94-95)
3. Charles Barkley (96-97)
4. Steve Francis (99-00)
5. Tracy McGrady (04-05)
6. James Harden (12-13)
7. Dwight Howard (13-14)

And that list doesn't include CP3, who absolutely would have been an All-Star last season had he stayed healthy. So while I can understand wanting to keep draft picks, history has shown that the Rockets have had far more success with free agency and trades than they have the draft.

 

Not picking on you but isn't this the same thing that many on this board said last year about Chris Paul?

Granted the important pieces in a transaction for Kawhi are better than Bev/Lou but the piece we're getting in return is better than CP3 if he's fully healthy.
