Trade an inconsistent injury prone 6th man and a good, not superstar center for a top 10, 2 way player? Sign me up. Make it happen! Especially if Clint is disgruntled with pay.

Kawhi leaves you turned a 3 year window into a 1 year window.

Yeah, but look at the free agency class next year. Everyone is doing short deals to stay flexible. We could get rid of Anderson's boat anchor contract and have real room to sign replacement(s) the year after we win a championship if he left!

Indiana turned down SEVERAL better offers than the one they ended up taking for Paul George. Nobody expected OKC to have a chance. I think it is extremely unlikely that we get Kawhi but everyone saying “this will never happen” or “no chance” have no basis for their statements.

If you don’t dream big, wtf are you doing? You never know how another franchise values specific players.

We wouldn't have max space next year in that scenario. If I remember the math right, it's virtually impossible to have max space again while we have Harden on his new contract and Paul on his. They'll be at like $80 million combined alone. We'd have to clear out the entire roster just to sign anyone.

If Leonard is healthy and will play it’s a no brainer. Everyone thought PG would bolt to LAL this year and what do you know he resigns.

    Take the chance.

2019 luxury tax threshold is projected to be $132 million, but I admit I don't know all of the rules. You're probably right.

With those two we won't need to sign any max players.

Because we have a better team with a very good chance at winning multiple championships.

He was saying we could go sign players. My point is we couldn't add anyone of star level as a free agent if we did this and Kawhi walked.

So dark the free agents don't even see us before they sign elsewhere.

If this guy prefers Clippers over Lakers, do you really think he care about winning that much?? Also, remember, he want to leave Spurs and play for Clippers.

I think something missing in this discussion of why would KL want to stay in Houston is our coaching staff. MDA and our defensive staff have a much different approach than Pop. MDA has a much different demeanor and philosophy. KL's offense would blossom, but he could become the most dominate defensive player in our league.

As someone alluded to earlier, KL could let Harden and Paul handle all of the leadership/media stuff and he could focus on ball and his uncle could relish in the increased endorsements from Adidas and Chinese money going to buy a KL jersey. Plus if we win a championship, that may just be the cherry on top to keep him here.

From the reports ive seen, Uncle Dennis is trying to strongarm this free agency like Kim Jong Un.

We have no idea what his real demands are.
