I've never had the chance to actually attend an Astros playoff game. In 1997 i was able to score tickets to Game 4 at the Dome after winning a 3 question contest on a local FM radio station. The only problem was they never made it past game 3. :(

The closet game i've been to that had that kind of intense atmosphere was the 1997 pennant clinching game against the Cubs. Brad Ausmus hit a 3 run shot to open it up 5-1 and Mike Hampton pitched a complete game. I'll never forget running around on the Astrodome turf with thousands of others after it ended.

i remember back in 4th grade (which was about 7 years ago.... so that'd put it at the '97 series with the braves)....... the librarians let us come into the library and we watched the game on TBS versus the braves.

that was one of those series that we didn't do so well obviously..... lol..... but was a cool experience at the time.

then my freshman year (2001) I remember our algebra teacher letting us all check the scores on her computer towards the end of class.

    Three (or 4; I can't remember).

Game 3 - 1997. Amazing seats in the back row of the mezzanine level directly behind home plate.

    Game 3 (and 4? I think, but I can't remember) - 1998. **** Leyritz.

Game 3 - 2001 (in Atlanta) **** the Braves and their chop.

I went to a couple in '86. I know I was at the one before the final, extra-inning game. I don't remember much though. I was 16.

I skipped school to see Mike Scott's division winning no-hitter earlier that season. I was also at the All-Star game that year.

I looked a lot different then ;) . But didn't they have to play the Dodgers in a 1 game playoff, to get in in 80? I think that is what game we went to.

Yes they did, but that was in L.A.

Sorry I assumed you were in Houston for those games. It did not occur to me that you would have lived in L.A.

I was there for the Philly game too, and for the heartbreaker in '86 too. I was just a kid both times, but I really remember the '86 game very clearly and thinking that we had it for sure.

Lessee... it would've been during the last series we had with Atlanta that involved a weekday afternoon game. I remember our team not only convinced our boss to take the afternoon off, we didn't have to use vacation time and he came along with us as well. As was typical in the series, the Houston bats were practically dead. I remember the highlight of the game was Brad Ausmus hitting a double that was almost a homerun. Unless I'm misremembering, Mlicki pitched a very good game maybe only giving up 1 or 2 runs early on. Perhaps the most annoying thing was this Atlanta Braves fan behind us saying cheering John Smoltz in the 9th saying stuff like 'cmon smoltzie' etc. Wanted to smack him, but resisted the urge.
