This is carried over from a reply I had to another thread. I thought this would be a fun topic on it's on. What's your favorite ad featuring a Rocket, current or past. I can never forget Sam Cassel's Subway spot: Subway is the place, Where fresh is the taste. Classic! ------------------
Hakeem (or was it Akeem?) doing a commercial for Apple Tree Grocery Store. Nice touch by carving up that steak. ------------------
Jim Peterson doing the commercial for some grocery store...was it Kroger? He also did a horrible rendition of the dream shake. UGH. Oh, you said favorite ad. ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
I'm trying to think if I've even seen very many up here in Washington DC. I can't remember anything other than Dream and Montana (and Dream and Shaq) What else was there nationally? ------------------ humble, but hungry.
-Shaq and Dream on the two person paddle boat in Taco Bell ad for Double Decker's to the tune "so happy together." -Clyde in the auto insurance ad reading straight off the cue cards -Hakeem in AmeriHealth commercial "Hey we're on da same team" -Calvin Murphy and Eunice Drexler in Bill Heard ads. Calvin: "You show me the secret to your good deals and I'll show you the secret to my good looks." Eunice: "I think you should keep that secret to yourself Calvin." ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
How can you forget Akeem's McDonald's commerical. Unbeatable. ------------------ www.swirve.com "Pre-born, you're fine, pre-school, you're f*****."-George Carlin
I remember the commercial where Hakeem caught a cab in New York becuse he had to get to the Garden for a game against Knicks. It was after the 94 finals so the cabbie had a chip on his shoulder and dropped Dream off in the middle of nowhere, where he then found Clyde had been dropped off too. Hakeem: Clyde? (I think) Clyde: Dream?! I can't for the life of me remember what product it was trying to sell. Snickers maybe?? Anyway, thats my favorite. ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
Two words: Haaaayeessss Street. ------------------ The internet is about the free exchange and sale of other people's ideas. - Futurama
aw man, Jeff! I tought I would be the first with that one! hahaha...that ad was awesome. ------------------ "I didn't like jr. high when I was there. Why would I want to watch it on tv?" P. Mesku's opinion about "Survivor"
speaking of weird Rocket media stuff...anyone remember The Robert Reid Show in the mid 1980's? ------------------ "I didn't like jr. high when I was there. Why would I want to watch it on tv?" P. Mesku's opinion about "Survivor"
I liked the drexler one during the astros campaign for a new stadium etc. Where they announcer said now introducing clyde "the slide" drexler ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
AstroRocket- That's my favorite ad too. It was a snickers spot I believe. The idea was that since they weren't going anywhere for a long time they needed something that really satisfied their hunger. Snickers was it. You must have seen a long version or a follow up, or else I don't remember the part about Drexler. Anyway I definitely remember Hakeem and the new york cabby. ------------------
Thanks man! I've been trying to figure out whose commercial this was for a while now. I guess my Snickers assumption was right. There was a long and short version of it too. In the long one the commercial would cut away from the cab for the standard, show the candybar/oozing caramel/peanuts part and then cut back to Dream meeting Clyde quickly before going off. The short one left this part out. ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
Yeah, i remember that one. Olajuwon got in a cab and he said "take me to the garden", and there was newspapers in the cab or something about the knicks/rockets finals and the cab driver took them to an actual garden somewhere instead of madison square garden. ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1924-2001 [This message has been edited by dc rock (edited June 04, 2001).] [This message has been edited by dc rock (edited June 04, 2001).]

YOU WANT TO SMELL LIKE ME!?!?! Perfume Salesman:"is that cabbage Gheorge?" Gheorge Mureson:"Yeah the chicks dig it!" Now if only he was a rocket... ------------------ Paranoid, trying to stuff the void.
LOL! That comercial always had me rollin'! ------------------ The season's over, but the 'Stros have started. Guess I'm still gonna be nursing that keg...
