Okay, so much for the big loss against Dallas, here's something to ponder on. Who's your top all-texan first 5 and next five. First: Yao Dirk Battier Tmac Parker Second: Duncan Horry Josh Howard Ginobili Head
As much as I love Battier, putting him over Duncan is very disturbing. I know, they don't play the same position, but I can't think of any combination of 5 players where Duncan would start on the bench.
Dream Team?? G Parker G McGrady F Nowitzki F Duncan C Yao Actual team I would want put against any other starting 5 in the NBA?? G Harris G McGrady F Battier F Nowitzki C Yao Why? Harris? Tall, athletic, fast, can handle the ball, can get to the hoop, etc. Everything that Parker can do plus he's taller and a better defender. McGrady? Enough said. But just in case, he's a ball handler who can distribute the ball better than any at his size, mobile, impossible to guard 1 on 1, unselfish, long range jumpshot to spread out D. He can also play D. Battier? You need the guy who'll do nothing but play D, take charges, hustle, hit open J's, etc. Very unselfish and doesn't take a lot of shots away from the stars. Nowitzki? Tall, pretty much impossible to guard 1 on 1, the range on his J can stretch out the D. He can't play D that well but that's nitpicking considering his upsides... Yao? ENOUGH SAID. But JUST IN CASE: BALLER! 26 ppg from a center?! 85% FT from a center!? He's 7-6, clogs the lane, Impossible to guard 1 on 1 and just about as hard to guard 5 on 1 (double team plus 3 refs). Has range on his J that is just a mismatch for other centers. Also, he makes the Houston Rockets click. What this team lacks? Speed!!! But I figure if you slow the game down (Spurs/Rockets style) you've got it won because you've got the deadliest half court team in the NBA. 2 slashers/penetraters (McGrady/Harris) who can get to the hoop and finish or suck in defense and kick out. You've got 3 who can stretch the D with range on their J (Battier/McGrady/Nowitzki) . You've got Yao. Sorry Duncan, but I can't put you and Yao in the same frontline there wouldn't be enough space for both of you to operate and neither of you really have the range to stretch the D away from each other and i'd rather have Yao so you've got to come off the bench, buddy.

yao duncan battier t-mac terry - parker might be better, but with this team you need 3 pt. shooters and parker is not one. terry shoots 44%. vs. mutumbo - i know it doesnt say alot, but he's better than dampier. dirk - i had initially put him as my s.f., but didnt want him vaginafying my lineup, so i moved him to this team and replaced him w/ battier. also, w/out dirk this lineup was just too depleted. josh howard ginobli parker as an aside, i was in germany a year ago and would ask people about dirk. everyone i talked to knew him, but they didnt realize how good he is. alot of people were very suprised to hear that he is considered a top 5 player in the league. i guess they dont follow the nba too closely over there.
