Again, you have to remember this happened out in the sticks. If you were expecting world class professionalism from them....well that's just ridiculous.

Maybe someone screwed up, very likely policy needs to be changed. Either way, we do need to remember that we're talking about a suicide here.

"World class professionalism?" All I'm looking for here is the barest hint of competence. Anything besides complete howl-at-the-moon stupidity and negligence, really.

You keep citing "out in the sticks" and "limited resources." How does either of those things affect their ability to determine who's supposed to be responsible for making sure inmates get to the hospital when required?

My point isn't about the one guy. It's about an entire prison that can't figure out what their basic job responsibilities are. "It's hard to tell who's responsible for it" is an indefensible statement. Period.

I think you are misunderstanding, it's not that they can't figure out who is responsible, it's that random people talking to the media haven't said who is responsible for the crazy guy's suicide. How big do you think the mental hospital in a town of 90k is? How many rooms do they have set up for criminal patients?

I also suggested that he took his pills before. Main point was that there was someone or some way that got him to do it.
