Pretty sure Lawson will start, but I would like to see Bev start and have Lawson play a 6th man role who will close out games.

I honestly don't care, but I think Lawson will be given the starting spot to keep him happy and protect his ego.

    Either way Lawson should be getting 28 - 30 minutes, Bev 18 - 20.

Lawson will start, but get most of his meaningful minutes with some of the backup guys in there (Brewer, Thorton etc.). That way he can get a chance to play with the ball in his hands, set up the bench guys (most of whom need a shot creator) and give Harden a rest.

Lawson is day 1 starter averaging 28-32 minutes a game. Beverley is getting back up money and should fill the role as bench defensive spark plug. Bev shouldn't average over 20 mpg based on his recent injuries and quality of play.

It matters more who finishes games than who starts them

Lawson all day but Bev is a great bench player coming in for defensive support.

    Bev

    Lawson/thorton/brewer/jones/Capella is a solid bench

I need bev to guard the currys and westbrooks of the league so Lawson to unload when they are on the bench

if rockets care about defense then no he should be off the bench. maybe he can start but bev finishes games, and lawson gets more of the pg minutes.

ofc with lawson, harden can finally focus more on defense w/o carrrying a huge workload, and he can play good defense. so i dunno, we'll see

Lawson is clearly the starter. Bev will get an increase in minutes against the Warriors, Clippers, Spurs, etc. I could see a small ball line-up against teams without a strong PG or SG as well.

OP's point is that it might not in this case. Well... yes... it always matters who finishes games, but point is, with so much offense in the starting line up already, it might not hurt to have the extra fire power off the bench and have your pest get in opposing PGs heads early. I'm on the fence about what I'd prefer.

One of them is going to be grumpy when they find out the other guy got the starting job.

He's been playing about 35 minutes per game over the last four seasons and each year his 3 pt % has fallen. Dude expends a ton of energy as the primary ball handler, playmaker, and penetrator maybe a decrease in minutes and usage will help his shot....

That said he is in his prime (he's only 27!) and would probably deserve more than 30 minutes per game.

I cant believe we can actually dream about how this team would run...

From thinking Llull was gonna be coming over...to resigning Bev and thinking Johnson was it...to actually seeing the Rocket's guard positions(1/2) being one of the best...
