Man you people twist the words and issues so badly. Sharing with the poor isn't the problem here. Its the idea that the government gets to decide how much and who it will be given to. Americans in general are the most generous people in the world, not only do we strive to help our one through millions of charity but we give the largest amount of aid to the world's needy countries. Don't change the argument to class warfare, this is about Uncle Sam reaching down and grabbing whatever he wants then telling everyone its for their own good. Read your independence history to learn what the founding fathers fought so hard for.
Where do you think the money for those schools, roads, and government backed loans comes from? It comes from tax dollars, and he government doesn't take them from you. You, as a citizen, agree to give the government tax money in return for services. The government used tax money collected from someone else to pay for your schools, for example, and you in turn pay taxes to pay for someone else. That's how a country works. If you take without gratitude, and complain about having to give anything back, then are you really being a good citizen? The people who are depending on the government the most and who are taking the big handouts are the bankers and big corporations who hit the government up for handouts and tax breaks. When the government gives in to this they are taking money from the poorer taxpayers and redistributing wealth from the poor to the rich. This is what some call corporate welfare.
That's the government's job. That's what we elect them to do. Do you think that maybe we should eliminate all the tax breaks and business write-offs and just rely on citizens to give money directly to the businesses they feel need it? I'm thinking you ought to like that, because that gets rid of the problem of the government telling people what to do with their money, right? You can't very well be against government programs and policies for the poor and then turn around and be in favour for them when they benefit wealthier people, right?
