I liked last year a lot, I hate this year a lot.

    Different feeling entirely.

You are absolutely right. The front office has no confidence in drafting apparently, pretty much incompetent.

Well, their FA signings are not that great either. It is like the rolling door,

    Andersen, gone
    Swift, prized signing, gone
    M.James, gone, then back
    Alston, to be shipped
    Pike, gone
    D. Wesley, gone
    Padget, gone, back, then gone
    Gaines, gone
    Vin Baker, gone
    Bonzi, no use
    Bogans, gone
    Bowen, gone

The only leftover are Alston and Battier, and we all know both of them are involved in trade talks.

So, what did the front office do since 2003? pretty much nothing.

Oh good lord, I don't remember. Were you just being relentlessly negative?

Or does having 52 wins and a game 7 at home prove that the trade was a mistake? Yeah, the loss exposed our lack of a solid 4, but Gay certainly would not have changed that. Do you think Swift would have been able to stop Boozer? Do you think Swift would have even seen the floor?

    I don't get it.

I just object to the sophomoric position that it was a foregone conclusion that 'this team was not going to make it out of the first round, so therefore the trade was a mistake.' It's absurd.

That is a stupid response. Maybe we should only strive for the 8 seed this year in case we get eliminated again. Might as well get a higher draft pick if we are going to possibly lose. Dallas could lose in the first round with or without Josh Howard. Maybe they should not have signed him to an extension.

Battier helped us get to the four seed. We lost a very close game 7. I would still rather have Battier on the team right now then Rudy Gay in year 2. People have their opinions but you can not say the trade flopped.

Boston trading what could have been Roy or Foye for Telfair is a flopped trade. Not battier for Gay.

what you don't get is the rockets had a chance to build for the future with a player who would've gotten them exactly as far as they got. I don't understand what's so hard for you to understand. you keep making this argument they don't know what would've happened. well we do know what actually happened.

the rockets guessed wrong, you can argue hindsight is 20/20 but the rockets brass get paid to make guesses on the future. so to argue that no one knew the future is only partly right. yes no one knows the future, but the rockets guess wrong on "winning now". simple and plain

I'm not negative on battier, I'm negative on trading rudy gay.

Why does our management always see thru blinds? They want athleticism, so they sign Swift w/o thinking of his IQ. They want shooting, so they draft Novak w/o thinking of his defense. Now they draft Brooks w/o thinking of his size.

I know its hard to find a player with few acceptable flaws, but this organization always seems to pick guys that are one dimensional or a specialist.
The term is called 'versatility'. I hope to god that Morey has the brainpower to factor that into his statistics.

Besides the first few picks this year and last, Battier is 10 times better for a team than the guys we missed.....as for the drafts.....I say we better get to work.....but then again no one here wanted CHUCK HAyes when he was in the draft......or David Lee.....also there are a ton of trade threads that so many people take the time to crap on others ideas and then a week later act like they have a bright new idea......the rockets are either going to be a serious contender by the end of the summer with blockbuster involved or they will regress.....my hope they get a good trade because who knows what Moreyball-less would do with a lottery pick.

I'll withhold any comments about the Brooks trade because we don't know how that's going to pan out, but to say that Battier didn't contribute anything during the playoffs is a little much.

He averaged 10.3 pts and more importantly, shot 44% from 3, while taking about six threes a game. He hit open threes when Luther Head and Rafer Alston were putting up a brick-show game in and game out. Shane was not the problem. Contrast Shane's numbers with Rafer, who shot 50 threes (remember these were usually shot with no one within 20 feet of him, not T-Mac 3s) and made a whopping 16.

The first round reminded me of the Head over Wayne Simien draft. Everyone was going nuts when the Rockets didn't draft Simien.

we never feel god about trades. Remember a majopirty of the fans didn't like the TMac trade, and most didn't like the James-Alston trade.

    It's about losing HOPE!!!!

I've finally distilled my anger to this:

The Draft and the Off-season are all about one thing - HOPE!!!

And because of nights like last night, and the consistently bad trades the ROX make over and over and over again, I feel robbed of the hope we as fans are supposed to be infused with during the Draft and post season.

So, if all of you defending this crap and begging for patience, etc. etc, will keep that in mind, the single biggest job of ROX Front Office (besides drafts and trades and salaries) is to do Public Relations!!!!

Now, having traded away a serious lottery pick last year, and exposed Les's unwillingness to spend money to move up two slots to get "our guy" while settling for an undersized, maybe backup....

I am sick and tired of waiting and waiting and waiting for this team with extreme potential to actually make the one move it would take to get past round 1 and find a guy who YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE TO PAY SOME MONEY TOO!!!!!

So, to Morey and the ROX, for robbing me, DD, yetti, and many others on this board of HOPE, please F-off until you grow a pair and get us out of the 1st round!!!!

The majority didn't like the T Mac trade? Is that why we lined up outside of Toyota Center in the rain just to watch the press conference. I don't remember too many people being against that trade.

I guess by now I should no longer be shocked at the depths to which apologists will go for Rudy T, JVG, CD, Morey, and players on this board.

The ROX FLAT OUT CHOKED THE LAST GAME THEY PLAYED AGAINST UTAH.

You're at home, you have a 5 pt lead with 5 minutes to go, you have the ball, and instead of running a play to get a low-post shot, that might go in and might get you some foul shots (from your best FT shooter) you get two missed jumpers from a tired TMAC, and zero defensive or offensive rebounds and you allow the only two players on the Jazz who could beat you to beat you!!!!! Thanks JVG for being such an extraordinary coach that you couldn't get one more rebound or 5 more pts....

That's choking. That's JVG's legacy (along with no bench) and anyone who thinks we did not choke is kidding themselves and does NOT know anything about basketball or sports in general.

The ROX CHOKED in Game 7 on their home court, just like they choked against Dallas three years ago, and they choked again last night.

We have gone from Choke City to Clutch City back to Choke City and it's going to take something VERY, VERY SPECIAL to change my level of appreciation for the ADMINISTRATIVE part of the the ROX TEAM.

You are exactly right. It's easier to find guards and wing players at the end of a draft then a front line player worth a damn.

hmmm... don't the Rockets already have a 6'6" guard that was taken in the lower lottery in Kirk Snyder? and he already has some experience in the NBA game. i don't really see anyone that the Rockets could have taken at 26 that was better than Snyder except maybe Almond who was off the board by then.
