his performance in the nba has been pathetic and not nearly up to the expectations. but his play in the fiba champs this year has been incredible. he was rebounding like a mad man. His problem in the nba has always been defence and rebounds. If he can solve those problems and translate it into nba play, i could see him making a big leap this year.
to be honest, yi is a totally different player this year. hopefully he brings this to the season. this year could be his breakout year if he doesn't get injured again.
Sure, his numbers look good because he's all they have on the team. But when the games got close, he made bonehead plays and he did his usual disappearing act.
Well if Yi could bring even 50% of his Fiba play into the season the Nets will improve dramatically. Yi can provide that stretch 4 they need if he can become a poor man's version of Dirk. Imagine if they trade Murphy+Favors+2011 draft pick for Melo. You'd have Lopez, Melo, Yi and Harris as your core. That's pretty good, IMHO they'll become the Thunder of the east instantly.
Yi's stats will probably go down. There is no way he will get any shots with Agent Zero and Wall on his team
True, even though he did have a good stretch of games with the Nets. Honesty, a lot of these foreign guys really need the right coach. Too bad not everyone can be Don Nelson or Adelman
Two things... 1. Yi played very well in FIBA, though I believe his team got eliminated. Still, right up there with Scola, in terms of FIBA performance. People can say this or that to try and discredit how he's played...but that seems unfair. Scola has had a lot of his big name teammates out, and we all know his numbers aren't just good because he now is the man getting the ball...right? 2. I believe he is only 22 years old. It's not like he couldn't improve in the NBA.
