Dude is pathetically soft that loves to shoot 3s. I can't believe Yao said he(yi) was going to be better then him. What a waste of a 5th pick.

People talked like this bout Nowitzki and Pau when they joined the league, give dude a few years and he will develop pretty well.

Pau was a stud his first year in the league.

Nowitzki was a stud by his second year.

Some of my skepticism about Yi is I don't believe for one minute he's only 21. My guess is he's ~25. I don't think he will get much better.

I think one should give a player the benefit of the doubt when it comes to age. You shouldn't go by looks... unless you also believe Oden's 40. Mentally speaking, Yi doesn't act a bit like he's 25.

Has Yi even shown a glimpse of future stardom? The guy has done nothing but shoot jump shots... and not even doing so very well.

    Hamed Hadadi 19pts 17rebs Yi Jianlian 11pts 11rebs.

The whole tournanment, Yi was having problems with Nba scrubs and 2nds rounders like Hadadi, Vroman and Freji and didn't play like 8th picks at all.

Yi has bright future? Give Yi another few years? Sorry you are giving yourself too many excuses for Yi's failure!

wat this guy needs is toughness, and building muscle wont help at all. look at brad miller, he has mucsle bt would rather take an outside jumper than driving into the paint and take some contact. he just doesnt want to ruin his manicure

Yi is looking more and more like the Chinese version of Nikoloz Tskitishvili, another big man that likes to shoot from the perimeter. At this point he might be worse, at least Tskitishvili tore up summer league a couple of times and summer league is better competition than the Asian Championships.

2 questions, if Yi wasn't Chinese, lets make him French, where would he have been drafted (1st round, 2nd round), and would he still be in the league.

i agreee... yi has been mostly crap.. well not complete crap.. but nothing speical at all. he belongs in the league but maybe as a role player.. i think he has this year to prove he has some all star potential ..otherwise role player for the rest of his career..

Wang Zhi Zhi played with more determination. Yi could not do anything against Hadadi and looked frustrated and most times not interested hence the poor showing in the finals.

Without Yi the chinese team would crumble in the group stages before Yi would have even gotten a chance to play NBA calibre guys whether it be scrubs or dleaguer material. Yi carried the Chinese team to the Finals. I watched the semi final against Lebanon and Yi was the leader of the team no doubt. He came up with clutch baskets and guess what, he doesnt perform well and they lose in the Finals.

    Let me translate:

Yi played well against YMCA level competition, didn't play so well against D-league competition.
