HOU: trades Glen Rice =expiring contract nuff said Eddie Griffin= still young ,could be attractive to a rebuilding team Kelvin Cato=put up good numbers as a backup ATL: trades SAR=would not be the 1 option here in houston nor the 2nd but will problaly be a better fit in Houston than in Atlanta because he dosent have the pressure of 'THE MAN'. Theo Ratliff =Great defender, finally healthy ,can play the 4 or 5was the defensive player of the year couple of years ago...he would be our best inerior defender. thoughts????
Atlanta trades: C Theo Ratliff (8.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 0.9 apg in 31.1 minutes) PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (19.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.0 apg in 38.1 minutes) Atlanta receives: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes) PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes) Change in team outlook: -6.5 ppg, -1.5 rpg, and -1.4 apg. Houston trades: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes) PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes) Houston receives: C Theo Ratliff (8.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 0.9 apg in 81 games) PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (19.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.0 apg in 81 games) Change in team outlook: +6.5 ppg, +1.5 rpg, and +1.4 apg. TRADE DECLINED Due to Atlanta and Houston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Atlanta and Houston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only Atlanta met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This works though Atlanta trades: C Theo Ratliff (8.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 0.9 apg in 31.1 minutes) PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (19.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.0 apg in 38.1 minutes) Atlanta receives: C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.1 minutes) PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.5 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes) SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes) Change in team outlook: +1.9 ppg, +2.0 rpg, and -0.4 apg. Atlanta and Houston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Too much to give up? Maybe if they threw in a #1?
I prefer keeping our frontline... too much is giving up in this trade for a player thats like not really defensive and another player who is injury prone... plus both are highly paid... i prefer keeping both of our highly paid contracts
i would do that trade if they threw in there num1 like you said and if we are able to sign Vlad Stepania to be our backup5 and sign another big body ,but its a risky trade leaves us too thin up front
Alright, I don't want to open a whole new thread, so here's my new idea: Mobley and Moochie for David Wesley and George Lynch. Throw ins may be needed from the Hornets, maybe Kirk Haston or Bryce Drew, whatever. The reason I propose this is to give us a better SF rotation, while somewhat making up for Mobley's departure at the 2. My other reason is that David Wesley is a great 3-pt shooting threat, and I believe he can work miracles with a player like Yao demanding so much attention under the basket. Also, he can backup both backcourt positions. We may have an abundance of swingmen, but the majority have problems: Rice (old), Griffin (just had surgery), Boki (not playing great). Here's what I'd like to see: Yao/Cato MoT/Griff Rice/Lynch/Griff/Boki Lynch/Pike/Francis/Wesley Francis/Wesley Lots of shooters, good defense from Griff and Lynch. Thoguhts/
