And no one said Yates was. Yates has played better teams than Schaub had to face. And when Schaub did go against a good team, the Texans either won narrowly, or got blown out (Ravens). Is beating Miami by ten also blowing out? Seriously, you guys think people are hating on Schaub. Schaub is who he is. A slightly above average QB with a weak arm who has been a starter in the same QB for five seasons.
He sure can. Schaub would be sacked. Both throw dumbass picks, but at least one is a rookie and with more experience will be better.
i don't know what Yates future is, but suggesting we trade Schaub next year based on 3 mediocre games riddled with mistakes is asinine. if he excels in the playoffs, then it may make sense.
But who said this?? I said that if Yates continues to perform well, that the Texans should look at trading Schaub and not stunting Yates' growth by having him sit another year. He has had two good games versus one bad one. He has two more games and the playoffs to prove himself some more. Besides, Schaub probably won't even be back until the middle of next season (PUP list I think).
if he's on the PUP list, Yates will be the QB and no one will want Schaub for a first rounder anyways.
A lot of this talk is about as dumb and ahead of itself as the early season notion that Tate should supplant Foster.
If they continue the fumbilitis issues.. then I say put in Ward cause they are going to lose us more games if they keep on laying it on the ground.
New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Baltimore are 3 of the five or six best teams in football. And are you suggesting they would have lost to the Falcons and Bengals with Schaub? Highly unlikely. Are we now complaining that wins aren't blow-outs? I mean, what's your point, here? No one is suggesting they're the 2007 Patriots with Schaub under QB. But any notion that they are as good, or even better, with Yates is remarkably silly. It was seafood and Scarface's mom is a saint!
Did you watch the same game I did? Yates had no time. Winston and Caldwell were stinking it up. Add in Kubiak's terrible playcalling and it was just bad. Yates played well tho. Never allowed to throw it downfield.
Yates had little to work with and the fact he was 13-16 usually suggests you keep passing in a close game. If Kubiak was afraid TJ might throw an INT then that is stupid towards trying to win the game. Cam Newton had more int. than td's before the Texans game, does that mean if Kubiak coached Cam we would see around 15 pass attempts from here on out? ...Bad coaching Can't coach the game scared...why even take the field?
Texans under Matt Schaub were averaging 27.3 points per game, under Yates 17.2. You can make all the excuses you want, but this offense clicks so much better under Schaub.
Yates attempted 16 passes and got sacked 4 times. That's a sack on 1/4 of his attempts. This despite his RB averaging 6+ yards. You really wanted Kubiak to pass more and get him killed? Schaub was one of the best QBs when it comes to facing the blitz. To expect a rookie QB to replicate such split second decision-making is ridiculous. I don't want Yates to develop David Carr syndrome. I prefer these games to the ones Blaine Gabbert has in Jacksonville right now. Yes, even if we lose.
Yates can't read a blitz, just dinks and dunks, like the Carolina game. Yates-led Texans average 16 points per game, so what do they score against the worst team in the league? but let's pretend he's much better than Schaub!
