I actually have this bad habit of browsing through opposition forums to view their opinion of our team/player before and during the game at times. Was looking through various Clipper forums this time and by gee, they do give Yao plenty of props against the supposedly best center in the West (according to Brand and Kerr). Just for entertainment sakes, here are some quotes that I thought was interesting: These stats don't lie either. Averages from 4 games this season. Kamen: 7.00pts, 5.75rbs Yao: 23.25pts, 12.75rbs Guess Brand & Kerr's comments are locker room material for Yao, keep them coming -G'day-
btw, Just to be fair, I do think Kamen is a decent center with a fair bit of potential, but that does not disqualify him from being Yao's b!tch -G'day-
Caveman? It's okay to make fun of the "second best center" notion. But calling someone caveman is a little too far IMHO. On the topic though, Kaman does not deserve, at least this year, to be called the second best center, not even close.
No, he doesn't. In my opinion, the best center rankings look something like this: 1. Yao Ming 2. Shaquille O'neal 3. Big Ben Wallace 4. Mehmet Okur 5. Zydrunas Ilgauskas 6. Brad Miller 7. Chris Kaman And mind you, that's if we're not considering Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard, or Boris Diaw centers.
I must have accidently typed Caveman on the topic subject since everyone on the clutchfans chat refers him as that, my bad btw, here is another quote from a Clippers fan after the match which had me grinning for a while -G'day-
No kidding, first Dampier and now, Kamen. Yao seems to demolish anyone that challenges his placement on the list. Ha. We need more idiots out there. Let's sucker Kerr into writing that Marc Jackson is the second best center in the league by this Thursday, then Ilgauskas on Sunday, Johan Petro (29th), and Etan Thomas on the 31st. As far as the Kaman-Caveman comments go, I actually think that it's a common nickname for Kaman outside of CF, not that it's right, but the nickname has been floating around for sometime... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=kaman+caveman&sa=N&tab=nw http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2006/02/28/BL2006022800660_pf.html Stuart
The best part is that Yao not only owns Kaman this year, he has owned him throughout his entire career. Kaman has some kind of psychological block against Yao, causing him to miss even open dunks and layups. I think he scored only 1 or 2 baskets on Yao last night, the others were on Stro.
