Yah, it's amazing how different his personality is when he's around the CNT, and then he comes back to the NBA and he is all quiet and shy and a loner. Either he's just more comfortable and less self-conscious around his Chinese teammates, or he just feels like he is better than everyone else over there so it gives him enough confidence to be more vocal. Must be a personality thing.
I think Yao is a natural leader and he is being himself when he goes back home. Over here in a foreign country and culture, he feels less comfortable speaking out. After three successful years in the NBA, he also knows more about basketball than most anyone in China. Over here, he's still learning about the NBA game.
Yao is starting to learn how to dress!!! I like the Khaki shorts. Usually if he's out and not playing basketball, he's wearing a warmup/jumpsuit. He only wears a suit if he has to.(It's all in the book )
These pictures make me jealous in the sense that I wish Yao would show that kind of emotion when playing over here. I realize that he does at certain times, but it's like he's a completely different person when with the Chinese National Team.
From Yao's perspective, (probably not an inappropriate one), he's earned the right to lead on the CNT. Back home, he's Hakeem Olajuwon, both in deed and in experience. Here, he's still a younger player, with a lot of improvement ahead of him.
this is off-topic, but does anyone have the video of Yao frantically chasing after and screaming at a ref from one end of the court to the other after being called for a foul (in a international game?) before he got drafted? if i recall it was footage that did the rounds internationally.
