Thats right guys, John Lucas, who used to play alongside Yao now refers to Yao as "boss" as one of the new stars of the Shanghai Sharks.
wow... so Yao is using one of the foreign player spots on a guard? I thought PG liuwei was one of the few decent players in that team?
That was old news for at least 2 weeks now. Video of John Lucas III arriving Shanghai on December 1, and joining the team scrimmage on December 2. http://vhead.blog.sina.com.cn/player/outer_player.swf?auto=0&vid=26554541&uid=10924995 <div><object id="ssss" width="480" height="370" ><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" src="http://vhead.blog.sina.com.cn/player/outer_player.swf?auto=0&vid=26554541&uid=10924995" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="ssss" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="480" height="370"></embed></object></div>
Excellent sign. PG is the weakest link in China National Team. Guards in China are weak. Can see Yao's BB IQ here!
yes, guards are weak in China. But yao isn't running the chinest national team right now. IIRC, at least for the shark's team, PG is their only decent position? why use one of your two foreigner spots on a position you are already relatively strong then? anyone have any more insights on that?
^^ 1. They are running the twin PG attack (think Lowry/Brooks, except both Lucas and Liu will be starters). I believe Liu Wei is 6'3'', plenty big to cover many 2s in that league. 2. They are using 3 "foreign player" spot, actually. There is a spot allocated for foreign players from Asia, and used that for Jordanian forward Zaid Abbaas. So, it would seem that they did use 2 foreign spots on the front line. It probably does not hurt to use the other one in the backcourt. What's the deal with the "foreigner spots"? Does Chinese basketball put a limit on the number of non-countrymen that can play on any one team?
I think so. If that wasn't the case, all the former Rockets in China right now would be on Yao's team.
What is your problem??? He is Anthony Falsone, who used to be with the Rockets but has been Yao Ming's personal trainer since 2005, and he is on Yao's payroll. He was asked by Yao Ming to go there to Shanghai to assist the new Strength and Conditioning Coach of Shanghai Sharks, James Scott (who used to be an assistant strength and conditioning coach under David Macha for Houston Rockets since 2007) to inspect/assess all the Shanghai Sharks players and put together a plan on how to improve their strength and conditioning.
that's actually a pretty standard excercise for almost all major sports league around the world. It keeps rich ownerships from hiring all foreign veterans for the immediate result and give the local young players some breathing room to grow. think it as the world version of "salary cap" in a sense. You see it in Chinese basketball league, you see it in European soccer leagues, and you probably see it in almost every commercialiced domestic professional leauges....
Anthony Falcon was fired by rockets because he hit a ball boy a couple of years ago. Clutchfans discussed about the incident and I believe some insider said the ball boy was a b*tch to work with but rockets had to fire falcon because he was the aggressor. Yao hired him as his personal trainer after that. And I believe he is sending falcon back to his shark team because he doesn't need him much as of now.
THE ULTIMATE MATCHUP: Rockets D-league Team VS Other Rockets D League Team (Shanghai Sharks) Dorsey and the Vipers take on John Lucas and the Sharks! Sold out tickets!
....Anything and everything about the Houston Rockets. Your comments from last night's game, potential roster moves, player quotes and pictures. Hell, the slower people in the group can even talk about ex-Rocket Tracy Murray. Last time I checked Yao was still a Houston Rocket. JLIII is an ex-Rocket. It only belongs in the other forum if it's not about a current/ex- rocket.
