The Rockets will never let Yao Ming go for the simple fact that he is one of the most profitable athletes in the world. If they lose Yao, they lose their whole Chinese fanbase which means they lose a ton of money. Letting go of Yao would be an incredibly stupid business decision
compared with Gasol, Yao is his value, if we want to be champion, find a suitable second CG and get a good solution with T-mac.
The fact is his injuries, not wingmen. I love yao, but you gotta ask yourselves, when is enough enough? He's injured every year.
Will Yao accept a max contract but with shorter years said 4-5 years instead of 7 years? This I think will benefit both Yao and the Rockets organization as I don't think Yao's body can take the beatings after he is 33 years old.
well, we might be surprised, it took Zydranus a couple of years to adjust from his injuries. Fast forward 5 years down the road, I can see Yao still putting up 18 points and grabbing 9 boards a night at age 33...just as long as Yao doesnt play more than 33 minutes a night, he'll have some gas left in the tank till he's 34.
Yao will still be the one of the elite centers in the league. He has not reach his peak yet and all these adversities shall only make him stronger. Maybe not as good as Hakeem but He will be a force both on defense and offense.
Carl Herrera never did ANYTHING worthwhile. It's not like his presence was instrumental in giving Houston our first title or anything.
Has anybody asked themselves how we would play without Yao. Like we did yesteday... Yao's my second favorite player and I love the dude but he is constantly injured... I believe chcuk can get gaurd anybody and scola and landry provide great scoring. Sign a avg center and we're set. That is assuming tracy regains his speed regains his speed and vertical or we can get someone good for him maybe a caron butler... So yes im suggesting we let his contracr expire.
Yao cannot be given the max for many reasons, First of all, because he has never played an entire season, McGrady is the second reason, i think Morey should learn from his mistakes. Then, i voted 10 millions, but because there were no option to vote for 12-15, actually i would offer him a 3 years 40 million dollar contract frontloaded. That would be about 14-13-13 millions per year. That way we can stay competitive as he grows old. I think that commiting 20 millions on a guy that cannot stay healthy for one year is an horrible move sport-wise. Now, buisness wise, it is a different story. About Yao going to other teams to win championships and get the max contract, this ideas contradict each other, aside from the lakers who have a massive ammount of money to spend, and maybe New York, most NBA teams wont be able to give Yao a max contract (they have to have the cap to do it) and also surround him with the players he needs to be around. Most likely scenario are in this order. He takes a pay cut to stay in the rox, he takes a bigger paycut to play for a contender, he gets max money to be the head of other franchise with bigger fanbase (say NY) but has no chance of a championship.
If you know the NBA is business, you'll know tons of team would like to spent the money, Yao brings money period...Les is not that stupid like you
Take a deep breath, then ask replace Yao with who, would bring Rocket a championship? LBJ? Wade? --They won't be here without Yao...they are not that short sighted like you
10 million for a center who is called one of best center in league? if so, trade him plz. believe me, he is much worth than his current salary. Think about the influence he brought to whole rocket team. Who can offer a ad contract to battier, Scola, even Hayes ? is that you?
