God, can't believe that just after browsing through the original text on Sina, I'm seeing this translated version on the board~~~~~

Although I don't sense that as strong as a vow, I do have belief in him.
Just hope we don't lay too much pressure on his shoulders. After all, it's hell tough for anybody!!!

Our guys need to keep driving to the hoop that always seems to draw at least to players which leave Yao open for a dunk, layup, or jump hook.

    To me that’s key also

Defense will have to pick up even more...I think if our guys believe in thereself and kind of play with a chip on there shoulder our D will pick up even more. I can really tell off hand that getting to the play off's mean allot to Yao and rafer off the top.

It wasn't a Rasheed Wallace type guarantee or anything like that...

I don't think it's up to Yao.. since Tmac is out chances are Yao's gonna be double and triple teamed... it's up to everyone else to bring it which will make it easier on him. If the role players don't show up... it's over.

I could not see a slim chance that we could advance to the playoffs.

    Wish them the best!

    Keep fighting guys.

Welcome to the shady world of Chinese reporting. Please remember that all news may either be a) true b) half truths or c) completely untrue.

whether we make it this year or not, i'll be happy if yao can learn to carry the team on his own and play like a dominant force for the rest of the season. That alone makes this season not a total waste. Even with Tmac playing up to his capabilities, we need Yao to elevate his game to next level if we ever want to get another ring. With all the misfortunes this year, Yao is progressing more than I expected. If a disppointing season is what takes him to get "it" quicker, so be it.

I agree with the others, that was nowhere near a promise to reach the playoffs. Yao was saying, sensibly, that he would do his best. Whoever wrote the exaggerated, sensationalized headline at sina should be spanked.

The title is misleading, to say the least.

From what I can gather from the article, Yao DID NOT gaurantee a play-off birth, he merely said he will not give up, and feels responsible to lead the team even without McGrady. The title is misleading and will only place more unnecessary expectations of Yao. Thanks for sharing this piece of information though.

    -G'day-

I still see the signifigance in his words, because that's the first time ever, he talked about "to lead his teammates" in anything in his Rockets uniform. That's a big step for him to take that role, and I believe he's comfortable with that as well, otherwise, he wouldn't be saying that.
