I think this is the third time Yao is nominated to NBA weekly best. Anyone know if any other rookie has been nominated? http://www.nba.com/news/pow_030203.html Other candidates for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Glenn Robinson, Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Houston’s Yao Ming, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, New Jersey’s Kenyon Martin, Phoenix’s Stephon Marbury and Washington’s Michael Jordan
As I have said earlier in the season, wonder if he will actually win one as oppose to just being nominated. Good week from him though! -G'day-
Yao needs to have a consistent week (i.e. 20 ppg, 10 rpg like he did in the past week) plus 1 standout big game (30+ pts, 15+ rebs type) perferably on national TV to get this award. Steve got one because of the Lakers game.
TNT Tuesday, February 18th @ 10:30pm(ET) "Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Lakers" Thursday, February 27th @ 7pm(ET) "Houston Rockets @ Washington Wizards"
Also ESPN, Feb 21, Dallas 7:00 pm. It's a no brainer. Shaq-Yao game ranked the 2nd highest ranking in a regular season game all time. Rockets are becoming very fun to watch. Yao against Jordan, possiblly the last time. There is no way they are going to miss that.
cool....so i have 3 more games to look forward to. Unless they show any more rockets games on that chinese tv station on the interent.
Just in case no one knows this is also Steve's birthday and guess what...............it's my birthday also. I can't wait. Nothing will be more sweet than a win on my birthday.....oh and steve's own also and to make it more splendid a win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Yao even been nominated for player of the month before when he avg like 20+ ppg, i think it was in Nov.
