Nothing to really to worry about.

He still has about 3 months to heal up the foot.

The message is it's healing, but at a slower rate, not that there are complications.

There must be a reason on why they would announce this the night before the draft.

blame TMAC. If Morey has traded TMAC yesterday, Yao is in the training room right now..

No one of note will want to come here for sure. That was a big concern from the minute he got hurt, and this makes it even worse.

now yao's truly untouchable. no team will want him, and we don't want to trade him.

Precisely, Is it to the team advantage or disadvantage. I believe it is to their disadvantage wherein teams now know that the Rockets might/are desperate for an insurance for Yao. The team would need to find a player to replace ( if needed ) Yao's production. Teams will play hardball with Morey now.

You do realize he has to undergo a physical anyway?

Oh well. Yao really IS gonna be on this forever now, it seems.

Keith Jones is the trainer and Dr. Tom Clanton WAS the doctor or medical expert. I can now see why all the Houston pro sports teams have the most injuries year in and year out, its Mr. Clanton himself! No wonder he is leaving to Colorado to open his own firm or doctor business.
