Link: http://2004.sina.com.cn/cn/bk/2004-08-13/61297.html Yao has just conducted a short interview in Athen. He commented about the acquisition of Sura and Ward: Q:Recently Rockets has signed Sura and Ward. What do you think? A:I love this signing a lot, they fill the holes that left by Francis & Mobley. Personally I appreciate Sura very much, he impressed me a lot when I played against him in Atlanta. For Ward, I just know that he is an ex-Knick & played under Van Gundy.
good find... hopefully this motivates sura into being a good teammate/buddy with yao and others, i remember reading some of you think hes got a bad locker room attitude
Wonder what he liked so much about Sura? -maybe his energy/defense? any other parts of the interview u can translate for us?
People said Sura was bad for the locker room? I remember when he got that last triple double nullified, that his teammates really backed him and even shouldered the blame. They basically said that they wanted him to go for it and encouraged him to get the cheapy rebound. I remember hearing the guys afterwards and they really wanted him to get it. I thought that he must be a good guy or someone that teammates like.
Yao's having minor ankle glitch? http://2004.sina.com.cn/cn/2004-08-13/61073.html And it said Yao discusses plays with the coaches and gives advice to teammates during practices. See? He can be a leader in the CNT. It's all about the circumstance.
no. the rumour is he's a bit wooden in the head, not intellect/basketball-wise, but personality-wise.
He's just being honest. He knows that getting Sura is a bigger lift off the bench then some of you people give him credit for. His comments about Ward show his real enthusiasm about Sura. He's not just blowing smoke up our ass. Whatever Ward can give us is a bonus. With Nachbar and Sura manning the backup 2/3, we can afford just having Sura and Lue manning the majority of the point minutes. T-Mac isn't going to sit too often I'd think.
Hopefully, Ward will just be starting until Sura learns the system. But by Christmas, Sura needs to be our starter and getting 30 mins per game, including the crunch time minutes
more than likely that is just a precaution against injury. you would be surprised at the number of athletes that tape their ankles even when there isnt a problem with them. very common. wouldnt you feel better knowing that Yao has his ankles taped to provide extra support so he is less likely to injure it?
no ****e not sure of specifics of NBA, put plenty of team in various sports here in australia require their players to tape their ankles
