If Yao replaces Hakeem in the 93-94 team, can Yao lead the Rockets to a championship that year like Hakeem did? Given Yao the prime time of his career in that 93-94 team.

Can anyone imagine what the Rockets would be like if Yao was on that old rockets team?

I think Ewing and Robinson would take Yao's lunch money.

Yao couldn't have lead the '95/'96 Bulls to a Championship. :(

No one can match what the Dream did in both championship years. He was the total package. Yao is good but he is not as dominating. During the years of Hakeem, He had to go up against quality big men like Ewing, Robinson, Mourning and Shaq and still dominated. Yao has not had the chance to do that except vs. Shaq where He did fairly. There would not be another Dream.

I have loved Yao on this team. He is a great teammate, a very good player and a wonderful human being. That being said, I say there is no way he could lead that team to a title. Hakeem took over and changed games on both sides of the court. He was dominant in a dominant center era. You couldn't front him, double him or play him one on one he made quick decisions with the ball whether that be shooting or kicking out to the open man. Hakeem was truly one of the greats of all time. GREAT. Yao has a very nice game and can take over in stretches but Hakeem usually dominated from start to finish. But here is to hoping Yao can be a part of another Rockets championship run

You could take any center who's played since then and they wouldn't have been able to do what Hakeem did. Maybe Shaq, but he's always needed a 2nd fiddle. Maybe Duncan (if you consider him a center, but I don't think so. Robinson wouldn't have done it. Neither would have Ewing. It's not an insult to Yao, but no one could have replaced Hakeem and won a ring.

Here's a better question; could Yao have replaced Shaq on the Lakers teams and won championships?

I think he'd probably win one or two, but probably not three. Shaq was dominate, and he had Kobe and some nice role players, but Sacramento had the talent to steal one from them. It just didn't happen.

If the measuring stick is from 1-10, with Hakeem being a 10.

Yao is a solid 6 or 7.......a good player, but not a great one.
