Did anybody notice that he couldn't spin around and dunk the ball anymore? Now each time he spins, the defender would be able to recover and bother him. Before the injury, he was much faster so that the defender can't recover fast enough.

Now he could be blocked easily by Okur, it tells you he is slower in releasing the ball. He is relying more on his jumper. His FGP is below 45% for the playoff. I just think he is slower after the injury.

I remembered I bring that up once in the game thread. Actually, Yao talked about his spin move a couple of weeks ago. By losing some quickness that orignially he has very limited, it does affect his game big.

Yup. Sad too because Yao was already slow to begin with. Now that he's slower, he has no chance of spinning around his defender. That's not his only problem either. His entire offense seems to consist of only turnaround jumpers now. Even if he's slow, he can still use his hook shot. I'm not sure what's going on with him.

Honestly Yao should be averaging 30+ a game on single coverage. I havent even seen him doing the mini hook shots anymore. He's just out of sync and so predictable this playoff.

yes if this was the real yao, 30+ is child's play. how about single coverage on okur? okur!

maybe yao needs to stop coming into practice so early and rest himself more, dunno

    Don't worry.
Every player has bad nights. Actually the whole Rockets has a bad night. We can't score easily in this series by Utah's physical defense.

The important question is whether the loss of quickness is permanent or temporary. That spin move at least would keep the defender honest.

His game will open up when his teammates can man-up and make shots from the outside...if not they will sag to yao and cause turnovers and wear him down.........we need a stephen jackson-type in place of Juwon Howard...that will help.

yao has NOT been guarded physically by the jazz, one on one by okur, he isn't any more physical than the mediocre players of the league.
