Yao's agent, John Huizenga was on Fox 26 saying that the Rockets have said that they need at least 48 hours notice on the FIBA release. They said they are progressing with talks but that he could not comment as to how much progress they had made. He said that it would be premature to say they are nearly finished. "We are actively exploring every possible creative solution we can to get the deal completed. We are trying to find something that works for both sides." One side note...Goldberg said that he asked Yao to say hello to his sons on the phone when he was in China. He said Yao took the phone and talked to them for 10 minutes.
I heard that too...The Rockets Lawyer wanted Ming to say a quick hello to the kids and Yao ended up speaking to them for 10 minutes... What a great guy that Yao Ming!
From all that I have read, Ming represents everything that the NBA needs: enthusiasm, class, diligence, willingness to work, and freakin potential. Why doesn't everybody see that? We moan about Cato's laziness, Odom's dope smoking, Kemp's illigitimate children and legitimate waistline . . . and so on. If he were a kid from a division IA school (not Olowokandi, but sort of), people wouldn't be so concerned about taking him No. 1. Oh well.
Remember when the Ming haters were saying how big a problem it was that Yao doesn't speak English? And they based that on what exactly? More myths dispelled ...
we have 163 hours left, that is nothing!!! Hopefully we get that clearance from FIBA in the "next few days" like the Rockets lawyer stated on the news tonight...
From what I've heard, John Huizenga is not your typical "agent". He's more of a representive of sorts brought on by Eric Zhaung...mostly for communication purposes. The government of China is more of an "agent". os
Exactly! I am really starting to like this guy more and more. Even if the Rockets can't draft him for whatever reason I am STILL going to root for Ming wherever he ends up. He just seems like such a down to earth, classy guy. And like Rileydog already illustrated above the guy has "enthusiasm, class, diligence, willingness to work, and freakin potential". I totally agree! Chris
