[Yahoo Sports] NBA to move ahead with replacement refs

    Exactly. I'm really scared of what this might become. I'm curious what players think, though I've seen Shaq throw his support behind the refs.

    In past labor disputes in all of the other professional sports leagues involving league officials or umpires, the use of replacements during a lockout or strike have proven to not work, so I don't know how the NBA's planned use of replacements will work this time around.

    As far as the Toronto Raptor home games are concerned, I suppose the league will have to permit the union officials to work those games because of a law Ontario has that prohibits the use of replacement workers during a lockout or strike. I remember during that lockout of the 1995-96 season, that was something the league had to do.
