    Hmmm.
    1. Scottie is retired
    2. Nobody likes Scottie, unless you like quitters
    3. He is not on the rockets.
    4. Even when he was on the Rockets, he was not on the rockets.
    5. Wrong forum

Would not be surprised to see this happen to a lot of players.

Including some playing in NY now.

    ;)

I wouldn't say he's "playing" if that person is getting 23 million dollars to be on the court for 20 minutes a game.

It sounds like you are actively rooting for this.

Despite how useless some NY players are on the floor, a lot of their money is going towards charitable works in war-torn 3rd world countries, so I sincerely this doesn't happen to them.

    +1.

And I don't think certain NY players have been particularly documented for poor financial planning.

He signed a stupid longterm contract in 91 or 92 -- right before the boom of 96 where even Juwan Howard was being offered 90-100 mill. He was really pissy about it because Reinsdorf wouldn't let him renegotiate it. Scottie was miffed at Kukoc for getting more money in 94 as rookie.

How hard is it to just put a small percentage of their money in a savings account? I understand some players blow the money on bad investments (Cars, restaurants, hair cream, ladies of leisure) but come on.. Automatic transfer! They can live off the interest alone.. Its like when GOD gave them the talent they had to give up something: common sense.

Pippen blowing all of his career earning does not surprise me.

Pippen having $120 million in career earning does.

As I recall, he signed with some team after his Bulls tenure for 5 years, ~$70 milllion. He was considered notoriously underpaid during his time with the Bulls, when he was actually good -- I think he made something like $3.5m in his last year with the Bulls of the 90s.) He probably made $15-30m over the other 10+ years of his career.

If the $120m includes endorsements, I could believe it.
